Mindfulness. It seems to be the latest buzzword in the world of self-improvement, and for good reason. Being mindful can help improve your focus, reduce stress, and make you more productive overall. But what is mindfulness? And how can you achieve it? In this blog post, we will explore six tips that will help you truly achieve mindfulness and get the most out of life!

1. Start By Creating A Calm And Relaxing Environment

To achieve mindfulness, you need to be in an environment that is free from distractions and chaos. Find a place in your home where you can sit comfortably without being disturbed. If possible, light some candles or incense to help create a peaceful atmosphere. Also, make sure that you won’t be interrupted for at least 15 minutes.

2. Take Some Deep Breaths And Focus On The Present Moment

If you’re feeling stressed or anxious, one of the best things you can do is take some deep breaths and focus on the present moment. Mindfulness isn’t about clearing your mind of all thoughts, rather it’s about being aware of your thoughts and emotions without getting caught up in them.

When you take some time to focus on your breath, it can help ground you in the present moment and allow you to let go of any negative thoughts or emotions that might be weighing you down.

If you’re not sure how to get started with mindfulness, there are plenty of resources out there, including books, apps, and websites.

3. Explore Numerology

In addition, numerology may be a helpful tool when trying to work on mindfulness. According to the gurus from MindfulnessAndJustice, understanding what the numbers you’ve been seeing mean can guide you on your path to success. Numerology can help you understand yourself and your journey better. It can also provide guidance and clarity when you’re feeling lost or confused.

4. Pay Attention To Your Body And What You’re Feeling

When you’re feeling stressed or anxious, your body will usually give you some clues. Maybe your heart rate speeds up, you start to feel tense, or you get a headache. Paying attention to these physical cues can help you notice when you’re starting to feel overwhelmed. Then you can take some deep breaths and focus on relaxing your body.

You might also want to try some relaxation techniques, like progressive muscle relaxation or mindfulness meditation. Progressive muscle relaxation involves tensing and relaxing different muscle groups in your body. This can help you release the physical tension that’s building up.

Mindfulness meditation is all about focusing your attention on the present moment. You can focus on your breath, a mantra, or even something as simple as the sensation of your feet on the ground.

Both of these techniques can help you become more aware of your body and what it’s trying to tell you. When you’re more in tune with yourself, it’s easier to manage stress and anxiety.

5. Be Patient And Don’t Expect Results Overnight

Of course, you’re not going to achieve mindfulness overnight. Just like any skill, it takes time and practice to develop. Be patient with yourself and don’t expect perfection. Remember that the goal is to be present at the moment, not to achieve some unattainable standard of mindfulness.

One of the best ways to be patient is to set realistic goals. If you’re just starting out, don’t try to meditate for hours at a time. Start with shorter sessions and gradually increase the length of time as you become more comfortable with the practice.

6. Stay Positive, Even When Things Get Tough

Once you’ve started to become more mindful, you might find that you’re more aware of the negative thoughts and emotions that you have on a daily basis. This is perfectly normal! Mindfulness isn’t about getting rid of all your negative thoughts – it’s about recognizing them, and then letting them go.

So, when you find yourself getting caught up in negative thinking, try to switch your focus to something positive. For example, if you’re feeling anxious about an upcoming meeting, instead of dwelling on all the things that could go wrong, try to think about how it might go well. Or, if you’re feeling angry about a situation that’s out of your control, instead of getting wrapped up in that anger, try to focus on finding a solution.

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention to the present. When you’re mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience. Good luck!

As a property owner, you want to get the maximum return on your investment. To do this, you need to carefully consider all of your options and make sure you are making the best decisions for your situation. It’s important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to real estate investing, so you’ll need to tailor your approach to fit your specific goals and circumstances. Here are some tips for property owners on how to get the most out of your investment.

1. Hire A Property Management Company

If you’re not planning on living in the property yourself, it’s a good idea to hire a property management company to take care of it for you. This will help ensure that the property is well-maintained and that you are getting the maximum return on your investment. In the words of Gilbert property managers, this can free up a lot of your time so that you can focus on other things. It’s important to do your research when choosing a property management company, as not all companies are created equal. Make sure you read reviews and compare pricing before making your final decision.

2. Keep Your Property In Good Condition

It’s important to keep your property in good condition if you want to get the most out of it. This means regularly inspecting the property and making any necessary repairs or improvements. If you’re not planning on living in the property yourself, it’s especially important to keep up with its appearance so that it will be more attractive to potential tenants. By keeping your property in good condition, you can help ensure that it keeps its value over time and that you get the maximum return on your investment. This can be a lot of work, but it’s worth it in the long run.

3. Consider All Of Your Options

When you’re ready to sell, don’t just list your property and hope for the best. There are a number of different ways for property owners to sell real estate, so take some time to explore all of your options. For example, you could sell through a real estate agent, by the owner, or at an auction. Each method has its own pros and cons, so it’s important to choose the one that makes the most sense for your situation. If you’re not sure what to do, it’s a good idea to consult with a real estate professional who can help you figure out the best course of action. It’s also important to set a realistic price for your property so that you don’t end up leaving money on the table.

4. Be Patient

Investing in real estate takes time, so it’s important to be patient. Don’t expect to see immediate results; instead, focus on the long-term goal of making a profit from your investment. In some cases, it may take years to see a return on your investment, but if you’re patient and stick with it, you can eventually make a lot of money from your property. Just remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, so don’t expect your real estate investment to pay off overnight. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. This is why it’s important to have a long-term plan in place so that you can stay the course even when things get tough.

5. Have Realistic Expectations

It’s important to have realistic expectations when it comes to real estate investing. This means understanding that there is always some risk involved and that you may not make a profit on every single investment. If you go into it with the mindset that you’re going to lose money, you’re more likely to give up if things don’t go as planned. On the other hand, if you expect to make a profit on every deal, you’re likely to be disappointed when reality doesn’t meet your expectations. It’s important to find a happy medium between these two extremes so that you can set realistic goals and avoid becoming discouraged.

6. Diversify Your Investments

One of the best ways to minimize risk and maximize returns is to diversify your investments. This means investing in a variety of different properties in different locations. By spreading your money around, you can reduce the risk of losing everything if one of your investments goes bad. This is why it’s often a good idea to invest in both commercial and residential properties. That way, if the market for one type of property plummets, you still have a chance to make money from the other.

Investing in real estate can be a great way to make money, but it’s important to do your homework and understand the process before you dive in. By following these tips, you can help ensure that you get the most out of your investment and that you’re able to achieve your financial goals as property owners.

Many of us on our fitness journey must have heard the term BMR Calculator. However, most of us do not know the importance of calculating BMR. Like several other calculators, including BMI and calorie calculators, the BMR calculator also plays a vital role in improving our efforts to get fitter and maintain healthy body weight. It is no secret that the more we know about our body’s performance, the better we can work to improve. The Basal Metabolic Rate is no different.

Everyone requires a certain amount of energy to survive, even if you decide to stay in bed all day. Recall the last time you were sick. Your body still requires you to eat food to function and heal. BMR is this minimum need of calories at times of basic functioning while at rest. BMR calculator makes it possible for you to know your calorie requirements.

With technological advancements and more research on subjects like obesity and healthy body weight, it has become clear that calories play the most significant role in healthy body weight management. If you plan to get into shape, build muscle or boost your immunity, the BMR calculator can help you make informed decisions. You can better prep your diet and choose exercises that fulfil your purpose, whether to lose weight or bulk up on muscles.

Let us begin with understanding what exactly is BMR and how you could use it to reach the best version of your health.

What is BMR?

BMR stands for Basal Metabolic Rate. The importance of a healthy metabolism for healthy body weight is well known. The term basal means basic. So, basal metabolic rate represents your basic metabolism. Your body burns calories even when sitting or resting and when your digestive system is inactive.

You burn most of your daily calories with zero effort, movement, or even without trying. Your body is burning calories to keep your organs functioning. For example, your body burns calories to keep your heart pumping and your lungs breathing. Whether you’re sleeping, talking on the phone, working in your office, or watching TV, your body keeps burning calories. So, these calories add up to your BMR. You can think of it as the amount of energy your body needs to burn these calories.

Your BMR primarily depends on involuntary functions like breathing, digestion, pumping blood and reflex actions. Therefore, it is directly proportional to the type and intensity of the physical activity you engage in daily.

Changes in the BMR such as increased physical activity or muscle mass will increase the number of calories burnt during minimal functioning. Similarly, increased body fat will have a decreased metabolic rate or a reduced number of calories burnt during rest.

Studies by the International Journal of Obesity suggest an accurate estimation of BMR to be critical for the rigorous development of obesity control and prevention strategies. Although BMR is a standard of physical well-being, it is unique for your body, typically depending on your age, height, weight and gender.

What is a BMR Calculator?

As the name suggests, a BMR calculator estimates your basal metabolic rate or the number of calories expended. However, it demands a neutral temperature in the environment. In addition, you need to calculate it when the subject’s digestive system is inactive for about 12 hours. Many times it might also require your sympathetic nervous system to be inactive. In other words, it is best to measure it in a relaxed position.

Calculating BMI can be an excellent way to decide your adequate calorie consumption. If you know your BMR, you can better determine your caloric needs for healthy weight loss. In addition, your BMR can help determine the number of calories you should eat to meet your goals. So, if you want to lose weight, you will need to eat less than your BMR (or maintenance calories). But, at the same time, if you wish to gain weight, you will have to eat more.

Calculating BMR: Prevalent Formulas

Calculating BMR can be easy if you understand its fundamentals. However, with advanced research, people use several formulas to do so. That is because different researchers have come up with different formulas and methods to calculate BMR.

Harris-Benedict Formula

Harris-Benedict formulated the first equation to find BMR and revised it in 1984. It is one of the most popularly used BMR formulas. Here is the formula:

For Men

BMR = 13.397W + 4.799H – 5.677A + 88.362

For Women

BMR = 9.247W + 3.098H – 4.330A + 447.593

Mifflin-St Jeor Equation

Most of the BMR calculators also rely on the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation. Here is the formula:

For Men

BMR = 10W + 6.25 H – 5A + 5

For Women

BMR = 10W + 6.25 H – 5A – 161

In both the formulas given above, W is body weight (kg), H is the height (cm), A is age, and F is body fat (%)

According to a study, the Mifflin-St. Joer equation is a useful method. However, there also exist questions about its variation in accuracy levels across populations. For example, it is low in accuracy for the obese population and comparatively more accurate for the non-obese populous. As a result, various researchers have proposed alternative equations that are yet to be labelled credible.

BMR for Women and Men: An Example

As seen above, there exists a difference in the individual formulas between men and women. Research suggests that women have slightly lower BMR compared to men.

Let us calculate the BMR for each using examples:

Gender: Female

Age: 36

Factors Affecting Your BMR

As per research, several factors work in combination to influence your BMR. These factors are:

Body size: Larger adult bodies have more metabolising tissue and a larger BMR.

Amount of lean muscle tissue: Muscle burns kilojoules rapidly. Hence, lean muscle tissue can affect BRM.

Amount of body fat: Fat cells are ‘sluggish’ and burn far fewer kilojoules than most other tissues and organs of the body.

Crash dieting, starving or fasting: Eating too few kilojoules encourages the body to slow the metabolism to conserve energy. As a result, BMR can drop by up to 15%, and if lean muscle tissue is also lost, this further reduces BMR.

Age: Metabolism slows with age due to loss of muscle tissue and hormonal and neurological changes.

Growth: Infants and children have higher energy demands per unit of body weight due to the energy demands of growth and the extra energy that the body requires to maintain its temperature.

Gender: Generally, men have faster metabolisms because they tend to be larger.

Genetic predisposition: Your genes may partly decide your metabolic rate.

Hormonal and nervous controls: The nervous and hormonal systems control your BMR. Hormonal imbalances can influence how quickly or slowly the body burns kilojoules.

Environmental temperature: If the temperature is very low or very high, the body has to work harder to maintain its average body temperature, which increases the BMR.

Infection or illness: BMR increases because the body has to work harder to build new tissues and create an immune response.

Amount of physical activity: Hard-working muscles need plenty of energy to burn. Regular exercise increases muscle mass and teaches the body to burn kilojoules faster, even when at rest.

Drugs: Drugs like caffeine or Nicotine can increase the BMR.

Dietary deficiencies: For example, a diet low in iodine reduces thyroid function and slows the metabolism.

Since so many factors affect your BMR, it can be challenging to conclude whether you have a healthy BMR or not. However, any BMR is healthy if it is balanced.

Benefits of Using a BMR Calculator

Understanding how many calories your organs will need to function efficiently helps when you are engaged in reaching your fitness goals. Hence, the importance of calculating your BMR is essential. In addition, it can help combat various health issues. Some of the critical benefits of calculating your BMI are:

Weight Management

Knowing your BMR would help you understand how many calories your body requires for optimal functioning. It will prevent you from consuming too many or too few calories. The importance of eating balanced calories in bodyweight management is no secret. Since the BMR calculator gives you an exact estimation of your calorific requirements, you can plan your calorie intake as per your fitness goals.

Easy Meal Planning

Most people try to attain quick results from rigid diet plans. These diet plans would specify the units of energy in each food. This whole process takes away the simple pleasure of enjoying food. By using a BMR calculator, you now know your BMR, around which you can plan meals, snacks, cuisines and whatnot. You can do away with strict calories counting that might not be sustainable for everybody.

Gain Muscle Strength

Healthy weight management is not only about losing weight. It also involves efforts to gain muscle strength. Gaining more muscle and more power requires greater physical training that demands more energy from your food’s nutrition. The knowledge of your BMR will guide you with a specific combination of calorie intake based on your intensive physical training. Here you can strengthen your goals with assistance from a dietician or a gym trainer.

Manage Chronic Conditions

Managing chronic conditions like PCOS and endometriosis requires caloric restrictions and physical activity. That helps meet the body’s energy requirement in such diseases without making you gain excess weight.

A research paper suggests performing aerobics and strength activity (moderate exercise) for 30-60 minutes per day. With the help of BMR, you can quickly assess your body’s calorific needs and match it with a calorie intake spread throughout the day to result in a permanent energy balance of +/- 300 calories.

Other Benefits

Since your calorie intake and weight management play a crucial role in managing your heart health, calculating BMR would indirectly help improve your heart health.

Several lifestyle diseases are a result of unhealthy eating. When you know how many calories you need, you can seek help from a nutritionist in designing a healthy meal plan to give you enough nutrition and keep your calories in check. That will reduce the risk of lifestyle diseases.

Research says metabolic risk factors lead to changes in the metabolic system and increase the possibility of lifestyle diseases. These diseases include increased BP, glucose levels, fat in the blood and obesity.

Knowing your BMR will help you decide the best ways to reach your ideal body and health. That can assist you in gaining an increased level of general well-being and life satisfaction.

BMR Calculator for Weight Loss

Your body metabolism and calorie intake are significant elements of your weight loss journey. So, your aim should be to have a well-performing metabolism and know your calorific requirements. Once you know your body’s natural energy output, you can utilise the numbers to help you reach your weight loss goals by adjusting your calorie consumption and indulging in physical activities.

Once you have your BMR numbers, it also becomes simple to calculate and recognise how many excess or deficient calories you consumed.

Step 1: Track your nutritional input (what you eat/drink in a day).

Step 2: Subtract your BMR or your energy output.

Step 3: Subtract your exercise activity or calories burnt

Result: The resulting number displays excess or deficient calories.

Here is an example to understand it better:

Aman is a 35-year-old man weighing 75 kgs, and he is 157 cm tall. He wants to get into shape and achieve his fitness goals. So, he decides on using a BMR calculator to identify his BMR. Since he can only work out 1-3 times a week, the BMR calculator gives him his calorific needs as 2147 calories/day to perform basic activities.

Here’s how Aman used his BMR to understand if he is on the right track:

Food consumption (nutritional) throughout the day: 2,460 calories

BMR = 2,147 calories

20 minutes of jogging = 200 calories burnt

25 minutes of weight training = 125calories burnt

Resulting number = 2460-2147-200-125 = (-12) calories

Since the resulting number is negative, Aman is consuming fewer calories than what he is burning.

It is no secret that you will lose weight if you do so because weight loss results from a calorie deficit. However, it does not mean you need to starve yourself. Instead, you can plan your diet and exercise based on your BMR. You do not have to follow strict diets but be mindful of consumption based on your BMR and activity.

The Link Between Activity Levels, Weight Loss and BMR

Along with the diet you consume, your physical activity throughout the day is vital in your BMR reading because your daily calorie needs are directly based on your activity level.

Exercise may vary in type, intensity and frequency throughout the week. So, there is no limitation to the type or means of exercise you choose. It can vary from jogging, swimming, dancing, yoga, Zumba, playing basketball, daily chores like washing clothes, etc.

Classifying Exercises/Activity Based on Intensity

Moderate exercise: 15 -30 minutes of activity involving elevated heart rate

Intense exercise: 45-120 minutes of activity involving elevated heart rate

Very Intense exercise: 2 hours or more of activity involving elevated heart rate

Classifying Exercises/Activity Based on Frequency

Sedentary: No or little exercise

Light Exercise 1 to 3 times a week

Moderate Exercise 4 to 5 times a week

Intense exercise 3-4 times a week

Intense exercise 6-7 times a week

Very intense exercise daily/physical job (labour work)

Frequency of Exercise/Physical Activity to Daily Calorie Requirement Ratio

Sedentary no or little exercise: Your calorie requirement is BMR*1.2

Light Exercises 1 to 3 times a week: Your calorie requirement is BMR*1.375

Moderate Exercises 4 to 5 times a week: Your calorie requirement is BMR*1.55

Intense Exercises 3 to 4 times a week: Your calorie requirement is BMR*1.725

Very Intense exercises daily: Your calorie requirement is BMR*1.9

Your BMR would change according to what type and intensity you engage in each day of the week. For example, if you want to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than the energy you get from the food. You should do both of these things according to your BMR reading.

A recent blog by the Harvard Medical School gave a list of 30 gym activities and calories a person would burn while performing the activity for 30 minutes. In addition, it mentioned the number of calories burnt if people of three varying weights engaged in them, precisely 57 kgs, 70 kgs, 84 kgs. These may seem restrictive but may give you a slight idea about the same.

Difference between BMR and RMR

RMR and BMR are common measurements of how much energy your body uses. Although many people use them interchangeably, they are slightly different from each other. RMR is “resting energy expenditure”, meaning the energy you burn only while resting. However, “basal energy expenditure” is the energy you burn throughout the day via basic activities involving your body functions. A simple distinction between the two is:

The number of calories your body burns while at rest is measured by RMR (resting metabolic rate).

The BMR (basal metabolic rate) is the calorie needed for your body to execute its most essential processes, such as breathing, generating cells, regulating temperature, etc.

Both sound comparable, and monitoring your RMR or BMR can provide a decent benchmark for your body’s energy requirements. The main distinction is that your BMR is a more accurate calculation depending on its calculation methods.

Food’s Effect on Your BMR

Your BMR rises after you eat because you use energy to eat, digest and metabolise the food you have just eaten. The rise occurs soon after you start eating and peaks two to three hours later. Studies suggest that the BMR can change between 2-30%, depending on the meal size and the type of food you eat.

Different foods raise BMR by differing amounts. For example:

Fats raise the BMR by 0–5%.

Carbohydrates raise the BMR by 5–10%.

Proteins increase the BMR by 20–30%.

Hot spicy foods (for example, foods containing chilli, horseradish and mustard) can have a significant thermic effect.

The Bottom Line

Calories are the key to achieving any fitness goal. With detailed data on food and exercises, you may know the calories you consume or burn. However, knowing how many calories you burn while at rest and performing basic activities can make a difference in deciding your calorie consumption. Once you know the exact calorie requirement to let your body function normally, it can be easy to execute and plan your fitness efforts more accurately. That explains the importance of calculating your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).

Since your BMR can vary for different individuals, it is essential to calculate it in the right environment and use the right formula. However, it can be challenging at times. So, it is best to use the most accurate BMR calculator designed by experts under the supervision of nutritionists and dieticians. So, use the most accurate BMR calculator by HealthifyMe that will help you decode the specific needs of your body to help you reach your desired goals.

A. There is no standard BMR that is considered good. Any BMR can be healthy if it is balanced. However, since several factors affect BMR, there are no standards to define a standardised healthy BMR.

Q. How can I calculate my BMR?

A. There are mainly three formulas available to calculate BMR. So, you can use the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation, revised Harris-Benedict Formula or the Katch-McArdle Formula. However, the easiest way would be to use the digital BMR calculators available. For example, you can use an accurate BMR calculator by HealthifyMe here.

Q. How much BMR is normal?

A. Since BMR depends on various factors, there is no normal range for BMR. However, any BMR is healthy if you balance it well. It indicates how many calories you burn while at rest and helps you decide how many calories you should consume to maintain a healthy body weight.

Q. What is a good BMR for my age?

A. BMR is usually calculated for adults between 18 and 80. All factors, including age, sex, exercise, diet, height, weight, etc., play an essential role in determining if your BMR is suitable for your age. If you balance it, any BMR is healthy.

Q. What is the ideal BMR for a woman?

A. There exist variations depending on various other factors, including age, physical activity, height, weight, pregnancy status, muscle mass, etc. For example, a woman who is 36 years old, weighing 58 kg, with a height of 170 cm, not currently pregnant and engages in light exercise for 1-3 days a week should approximately use 36.5calories/hour.

Q. Should you eat below your BMR?

A. A healthy individual should not eat below their BMR as it could result in unhealthy weight loss, loss of muscle mass, and deficiency of vitamins and minerals, eventually leading to problems in proper functioning. However, if you wish to lose weight, you can eat less than your BMR under the guidance of an expert nutritionist or healthcare expert.

Q. How many calories should I eat based on my BMR?

A. The number of calories you should consume depends on your fitness goals. If you are eating fewer calories than your BMR, it can hamper your body’s regular functioning. However, if you eat more calories than your BMR, you can burn them through exercise and physical activity to achieve healthy weight loss goals. So, to simplify it, you should eat more calories to gain weight. Whereas, if you want to lose weight, you should eat fewer calories.

Q. What happens if I eat less than my BMR?

A. Since BMR is the number of calories you require for the optimum functioning of your body’s vital organs, eating less than your BMR is not advisable. It can hamper your body’s regular activities like heart functioning, respiratory system etc. It can also lead to unhealthy weight loss, loss of muscle mass, and deficiency of vitamins and minerals, eventually leading to problems in healthy body functioning. However, if you aim to lose weight, you can eat fewer calories. But, you should always do that under the guidance of an expert.

Q. What foods speed up your metabolism?

A. Foods that might help speed up your metabolism are cottage cheese, lentils, apple cider vinegar, whole grains, chillies, chia and flax seeds, coconut oil and yoghurt.

Q. What drinks help boost metabolism?

Q. Is 1500 calories a day enough?

A. The number of calories your body needs depends on your BMR readings. Your BMR will help you know how many calories you need for the vital organs of your body to function. However, It will differ for different individuals. Hence, it is essential to calculate your BMR and identify the adequate calories that you require.

Q. Why is BMR important?

A. BMR is the amount of energy your body uses when you are at rest and the calories you burn while performing regular functions of your body organs. As a result, it helps you assess the number of calories you require to function normally. Hence, BMR acts as a guide to efficiently plan and achieve one’s fitness goals. In addition, it can help you plan meals, choose exercises, and engage in activities that help you lead a healthy life for a long time.

Q. Should BMR be high or low?

A. A high or low BMR depends on various factors like age, sex, exercise, diet, etc. For example, a teenager in his puberty may have a high BMR during the time of a rapid growth spurt. At the same time, an older adult of 75 years of age may require a lower BMR/calories/day to function.

Q. How does stress affect BMR?

A. Cortisol, the stress hormone, can be a leading cause of obesity in many individuals. In healthy individuals, stress can increase the rate at which your heart pumps blood, affecting your metabolic performance. In addition, stress directly or indirectly affects the quantity and quality of your diet. For example, some like to overexert themself during stressful times, while others do not want to engage in exercise. All these things together affect one’s BMR.

Q. What are the 5 major factors for a person’s metabolism?

A. Body composition includes the composition of fat tissues, muscle mass, water weight, body size, and surface area. All these elements contribute to the gross body weight, which helps identify whether your body metabolism is fast or slow, affecting the BMR.

Q. How does muscle affect BMR?

A. People with more muscle mass usually have faster metabolisms.

Q. Does running increase BMR?

A. Any form of physical activity has to be kept consistent to boost your BMR. So, if you run regularly, it can help improve your BMR.

Q. What foods decrease metabolism?

A. Foods that help decrease your metabolism include white flour, red meat, omega-6 fatty acids, soda, fruit juices, energy bars, etc.

Q. How is BMR related to weight loss?

A. Your body metabolism and calorie intake are significant elements of your weight loss journey. So if you have a well-performing metabolism, your body will burn more calories while at rest. That will help you decide how many calories you require to function. Then, depending on your BMI results, you can modify your calorie consumption to reach a calorie-deficit plan, which can help you lose weight.

When it comes to home design, many people struggle with finding the perfect balance between function and form. It can be tricky to create a space that is both comfortable and stylish at the same time. In this blog post, we will discuss some tips for achieving a perfect balance in your home’s layout. We will also provide examples of how to apply these concepts in your own space!

Feng Shui

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy that teaches us how to create harmony in our environment. The main goal of feng shui is to promote good chi, or energy flow, in our space. There are many ways to apply feng shui principles in your home’s layout. One way is to pay attention to the furniture placement. You should try to avoid blockages in doorways and pathways. You also want to make sure that you have a clear view of the entryway from all points in the room. Another way to create balance in your home with feng shui is by paying attention to the five elements. By achieving Feng Shui in your home, it is said you will achieve balance and harmony in all areas of your life. These elements are wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Each element has its energy and qualities. You can use these elements to create balance in your space.

The Rule Of Three

Another way to achieve balance in your home’s layout is by following the rule of three. This rule states that things should be grouped in threes. This can be applied to furniture placement, art, and accessories. By grouping things in threes, you will create a sense of balance and harmony in the space. This is because our eyes are naturally drawn to odd numbers. An easy way to apply this concept is to place two smaller items next to a larger item. For example, you could place two small end tables next to a sofa. Or, you could hang three pictures on a wall above a piece of furniture. This rule can also be applied to color. When choosing paint colors or fabrics, try to use three colors that are evenly spaced on the color wheel. This will create a harmonious and balanced look in your space.

Balance Through Symmetry

The third way to achieve balance in your home’s layout is through symmetry. This means that things should be evenly spaced and arranged in a mirror image. This can be applied to furniture placement, art, and accessories. By creating symmetrical arrangements, you will create a sense of balance and order in the space. An easy way to apply this concept is to arrange furniture around a focal point. For example, you could arrange a couch and two chairs around a coffee table. Or, you could hang pictures on a wall in a symmetrical arrangement. You can also use symmetry to create balance in your color scheme. Try using two colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. This will create a sense of balance and harmony in your space.

Visual Balance

The fourth way to achieve balance in your home’s layout is through visual balance. This means that things should be arranged in a way that is pleasing to the eye. This can be applied to furniture placement, art, and accessories. By creating visually balanced arrangements, you will create a sense of harmony in the space. An easy way to apply this concept is to use odd numbers when grouping items together. For example, you could group three chairs instead of two. Or, you could hang five pictures on a wall instead of four. You can also use a visual balance to create balance in your color scheme. Try using three colors that are evenly spaced on the color wheel. This will create a harmonious and balanced look in your space.

Balance Through Texture

The fifth way to achieve balance in your home’s layout is through texture. This means that things should have a variety of textures to create interest and visual balance. This can be applied to furniture, art, and accessories. By using a variety of textures, you will create a sense of harmony in the space. An easy way to apply this concept is to use different fabrics when upholstering furniture. For example, you could use a velvet couch with wool pillows. Or, you could use a leather chair with a cotton throw blanket. You can also use texture to create balance in your color scheme. Try using two colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. This is a great way to create visual interest and balance in your space.

By following these tips, you will be able to achieve a perfect balance in your home’s layout. By using a variety of methods, you can create a space that is both pleasing to the eye and harmonious. So, don’t be afraid to experiment with different furniture arrangements, color schemes, and texture combinations. With a little bit of effort, you can achieve the perfect balance for your home.

“If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough.” This quote by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says it all. She just nailed the whole idea about dreaming big, don’t you agree? I do! Those dreams should be outrageous, wild, and supernatural. So that everybody around you would try to persuade you that they are unrealistic to achieve, that your efforts will fall flat and you’re going to fail tremendously. This is a sure sign you’re on the right path.

So what is your biggest dream? What is the one goal that you think is impossible to achieve? Why do you think it’s impossible? Because it’s what others told you? Or because it’s you who does not believe you can do that? Or maybe all the above mentioned?

Achieving impossible goals starts with dreaming big. Too often, we sell ourselves short and aim for easily achievable goals rather than striving for something greater. When we shoot for the stars and dream big, anything is possible.

It is also a matter of perspective. Think about this: everything that we have accomplished in life started off as an impossible dream. Once we only dreamed of going to the moon, and now we’ve sent people there. We dreamed of putting a man on Mars, and now we’re planning to do just that.

Making a Choice

You know the saying, “life is what you make it”? Well, that’s true. But it’s not just because you choose your own path in life. It’s also because of the choices you make along the way. How come some people seem to be luckier than others? Because it’s not chance that determines our destiny, but rather the choices we make. Whether big or small, every decision can change our lives for better or worse.

Some people might argue that fate is predetermined, and we can’t change our destiny no matter what we do. But I think our lives are determined by the decisions we make, and each choice takes us one step closer to our eventual goal or fate.

So don’t be discouraged if things don’t go your way at first. Remember, it is never too late for a change and for choosing a different path. Clear-cut choice and determination is the key to realizing your big dream.

So how do you dream big and reach goals that seem impossible?

Here are five ways to change your perspective and achieve the impossible!

1. Shun negativity

This is one of the primary things you need to do when dreaming big. You can’t let other people’s lack of faith in your dreams and in their own bring you down. Instead, you need to focus on your goals and make them happen. When negative thoughts creep into your head, push them out by a memory of a happy day or a good friend, thus replacing them with positive ones.

2. Do what makes you happy

To always stay positive, you should do what makes you happy. Flooding yourself in positivity, you will naturally start to dream big. This is because a constant positive state makes a happy person, and a happy person can work miracles.

3. See the invisible

Have you heard about Eric Edmeades’ notion of the invisible? Do you know what impossible phenomena there are on this planet, which should not be there since they are impossible? Of course, you don’t. Since you haven’t seen them and not heard of them. But this doesn’t mean they don’t exist; we just don’t know they do. Right when we learn about those extraordinary things, we consider them impossible for us to do. And only afterward, step by step, and with relevant persistence in place, we can make them actual.

4. Have faith

If only you could realize what tremendous power you have within! If only you could imagine how miraculous it is. If only you could remove that self-doubt eating you from within, bring that power out from its hiding place, and let it work for you! If only you could have faith. All the doors, impossible and even those invisible, will open if you believe in yourself! And, please, do not confuse faith with hope; hope leads to nowhere; it is vain. Faith, on the other hand, is the strongest feeling leading to success. It’s the key precondition to dream big. The butterfly doesn’t see its beautiful wings; it doesn’t know the beauty it contains. In the same way, we often don’t see our own greatness, our omnipotent power.

5. Take action

Last but not least, take action! As simple as it sounds, this is precisely what it takes for a dream to come true: take action. That’s it! You will never ever achieve your big dreams if you just sit on your hands. So flip your fear and go ahead! Tune out all the negative feedback about your dream. Instead, talk to people who have already achieved their goals. Inquire them about the details, their feelings on the way, and the ups and downs. Other dreamers and their success stories will inspire you, give you wings so that you can go on to dream big.

On your way to dream big, please, do not forget to dream with passion. Have a burning desire to succeed. Do not be afraid to take small steps. Small but steady. Visualize your dream. Talk about your dream loudly. Make it heard: to the walls, yourself, and the universe. Nurture self-confidence, self-belief, and resilience as you proceed. Persist through failures. They toughen you up and are an intrinsic part of success.

Dare to dream big and go for it! And believe me, one day, you will look back and become so proud of yourself.

I am wrapping up leaving here for your inspiration a powerful quote by the first Indian-born astronaut Kalpana Chawla: “The path from dreams to success does exist. May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get on to it, and the perseverance to follow it.”

Losing weight is a great step toward a potentially healthier lifestyle, however, keeping it off is the ultimate goal for many people who opt to make changes to their diet and routine. If sustainable weight loss is something that you want to achieve, then it’s important to ignore fads and instead stick to a few key habits, according to one expert.

“If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” says Cory Ruth, who is an RDN, Women’s Health & PCOS Expert, and the CEO of The Women’s Dietitian. “The problem with a lot of trendy, fad diets right now is that they’re incredibly restrictive. Yes, you may lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks by dropping all carbs, but the moment you even look at a slice of bread, all that weight (and maybe more) is going to come piling back on.”

“Weight loss needs to be sustainable over time,” adds Ruth, “and it needs to come in the form of healthy, long-term habits. Losing weight at a slower pace can help you keep it off for now and for life.”

When it comes to sustainable weight loss, Ruth suggests the following three steps as the best things you can do to achieve long-lasting results. Keep reading for her tips, and for more, check out 8 Things You Must Know Before Trying to Lose Belly Fat.

Shutterstock

When it comes to how much you’re eating, Ruth explains, “Staying in a calorie deficit is critical to weight loss, so knowing how many calories you need to be eating consistently to be in that deficit is key. Calorie tracking with something like MyFitnessPal is not necessary, but it’s super helpful to help us figure out how to better navigate correct portion control.”

Shutterstock

Enjoying a meal out at a restaurant can be a nice way to treat yourself, however, it might not be something that you want to do too often if you want to keep excess weight off.

“[Eat] the majority of your meals and snacks in your own kitchen,” Ruth says. “When we eat out, we inevitably take in more calories, fat, and sugar. Being the one in control of what and how much of an ingredient goes into your food is a foolproof way to eat better for weight management.”

What you eat is just as important as how much you’re consuming and where, says Ruth. That’s why you should aim to “fill up half your plate with low-starch vegetables, one-quarter protein, and a small serving of carbs.”

As Ruth explains, “This ‘plate method’ is one way too easily and visually balance your plate for better weight control.”

It may seem like losing weight has everything to do with what you eat and how often you move your body. However, it turns out that there may be ways to get your brain in on the action in order to achieve a lean and healthy body.

Dr. Ellen Albertson, a registered dietician, nutritionist, and psychologist, as well as the author of ROCK YOUR MIDLIFE: 7 Steps to Transform Yourself and Make Your Next Chapter Your Best Chapter, offers the following three ways to “reprogram your brain for weight loss.”

First, it’s key to “manage stress/cortisol effectively so you don’t turn to comfort food to feel better,” Dr. Albertson explains.

Susan Bowerman, M.S., R.D., CSSD, CSOWM, FAND, and the Senior Director of Worldwide Nutrition Education and Training, confirms to Eat This, Not That!: “A big key to weight loss is behavior modification, which is a sort of reprogramming if you will.”

“To effectively lose weight and keep it off, it’s critical to focus on the behaviors that are getting in the way of progress, and learn to modify those behaviors in order to reach goals.”

Shutterstock

Beyond that, you need to nourish your microbiome. “Research shows that not only does having a healthy microbiome support weight loss, it can also boost your immune system and mood,” Dr. Albertson explains.

<img loading="lazy" class="lazyload alignnone size-medium wp-image-523800 " decoding="async" src="https://healyourhealthyourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/1640604153_814_3-Ways-to-Reprogram-Your-Brain-to-Achieve-a-Lean.jpg" alt="Happy Woman Holding Heart Shaped Hands Near Eyes.

According to Dr. Alberston, the third way to reprogram your brain for weight loss is to “use self-compassion to regulate your emotions so you don’t eat your feelings.”

Indeed, Holli Rovenger, a dietitian and wellness professional couldn’t agree more with Dr. Albertson’s tips. While noting that Dr. Albertson’s suggestions “have all been studied and proven successful,” Rovenger tells Eat This, Not That!: “In my opinion and experience, reprogramming your brain, along with retraining your taste buds and using behavior modification, is the way to long-term weight loss. If it was just about the food, people would not be enrolling and re-enrolling in all the large weight loss programs.”

However, Rovenger also adds this one important tip to Dr. Alberston’s list: take your time. “Reprogramming your brain along with behavior modification should be done in a slow, steady, and consistent process to be successful,” Rovenger says.
