<p>If you&#8217;re throwing together a last-minute dinner, it&#8217;s helpful to know which food combinations can be helpful for following your health goals if one of those goals is weight loss.</p>
<p>To learn about the best dinner combination to try when you&#8217;re trying to lose weight, we talked with dietitian <strong>Courtney D&#8217;Angelo, MS, RD</strong>, author at <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.gowellnessco.com/">Go Wellness</a>.</p>
<p>According to D&#8217;Angelo, &#8220;you&#8217;ll really want to build your plate around three major food groups: <strong>protein, green veggies, and carbs,</strong> with the centerpiece of your plate being the protein.&#8221;</p>

<p>For a <strong>protein</strong>, something lean like chicken, turkey, or fish will work well for your weight loss goals.</p>
<p>&#8220;Lean protein should be the main portion of your plate, and ideally you should be trying to shoot for 25-30 grams of protein for your dinner,&#8221; says D&#8217;Angelo, &#8220;mainly because Protein can help with building lean muscle, losing fat, and keeping you full for longer periods of time.</p>
<h3>Green vegetables</h3>
<p>According to D&#8217;Angelo, another crucial component of a healthy weight loss dinner is plenty of <strong>green vegetables</strong>.</p>
<p>&#8220;My recommendations are broccoli or spinach because both of these green veggies provide fiber, minerals, and nutrients your body needs, and fiber (just like protein) will help keep you feeling full longer.&#8221;</p>
<h3>Healthy carbs</h3>
<p>And lastly, despite some fears many people have around eating carbs and losing weight, it&#8217;s actually beneficial to incorporate a <strong>healthy carb</strong> into your dinner recipe.</p>
<p>&#8220;I usually recommend a moderate portion of a healthy carb like sweet potatoes or rice, but there are others as well if you don&#8217;t like these,&#8221; says D&#8217;Angelo, &#8220;because healthy carbs like these provide energy, which is important for staying physically active, and they can also help keep you full longer, just like protein and green veggies.&#8221;<span aria-hidden="true" style="display: none">6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e</span></p>

<p>There&#8217;s no magic alchemy to creating a perfectly slimming supper, but as a nutritionist, I&#8217;m happy to say there are healthy ingredient choices that complement each other to promote faster weight loss. <strong>Dinners built around a combination of filling fiber, healthy fat, and lean protein are almost always a smart choice for boosting metabolism while staying full between meals.</strong></p>

<p>Going vegetarian isn&#8217;t necessarily a guarantee of losing weight, but it certainly may help! A <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/06/200615115748.htm">large German study</a> from 2020 found that the fewer animal products people ate, the lower their body mass index was likely to be.</p>
<p>Researchers have speculated that this may happen for two reasons. Plant foods are not only typically lower in calories than animal-based foods, they&#8217;re also higher in fiber, which keeps hunger in check.</p>

Reducing systemic inflammation throughout the body can also set the stage for weight loss. In a study from the <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20551965/" target="_blank"><em>European Journal of Clinical Nutrition</em></a>, <strong>men and women who ate salmon three times per week for eight weeks experienced lower overall inflammation and lost a significant amount of weight.</strong></p>

<p>For her midday meal, Kourtney enjoys vegan versions of her favorite comfort foods, like zoodles with olive oil, garlic, and lots of vegetables. The self-professed pickle lover will also indulge in a slice of sourdough bread with vegan butter and sliced pickles, with a tangerine on the side.</p>

<p>Going vegan hasn&#8217;t meant that Kourtney has had to cut out foods like sushi or tacos—she&#8217;s just found vegan ways to prepare them. For dinner, the <em>Keeping Up with the Kardashians</em> star will eat tacos made from Beyond Meat ground &#8220;beef&#8221; or order crispy rice with avocado, an order of edamame, and an avocado roll from Nobu.</p>

<p><strong>Garcelle Beauvais</strong> may seem to have a charmed life on <em>The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills</em>, but even the star hasn&#8217;t been immune to some of the ill effects of pandemic living. The actor recently admitted that she&#8217;s gained a few pounds over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, and revealed the exact diet she&#8217;s adhering to in order to lose them.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m eating better, trying to lose the quarantine pounds that I&#8217;ve gained. And, just like everybody else, [I&#8217;m] trying to figure it out slowly and in a healthy way,&#8221; she revealed to <a href="https://www.womenshealthmag.com/food/a36702595/garcelle-beauvais-diet/"><em>Women&#8217;s Health</em></a>. <p>To start her day off on the right foot, Beauvais typically enjoys a smoothie for breakfast.</p>
<p>&#8220;I wasn&#8217;t really a smoothie kind of person, but I&#8217;m doing that now,&#8221; she told <em>Women&#8217;s Health</em>, adding that she also fills up with nuts and fruits, including berries, mangoes, and pineapples. &#8220;[They&#8217;re] the fruits that I grew up with,&#8221; she explained.</p>

<p>After a stressful year at home, during which Beauvais admitted she often felt like she had little time to herself, she&#8217;s now making self-care a priority during her free time, and allowing herself a little leeway when it comes to her eating habits.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m not going to go crazy and say, &#8216;I&#8217;m only going to eat protein, I&#8217;m never going to have a slice of pizza.&#8217; I can&#8217;t do that for me; it has to be a balance,&#8221; she explained.</p>

<p>When it&#8217;s time for dinner, Beauvais typically sticks to foods she knows her 13-year-old sons, Jax and Jaid, will also be eager to eat, including macaroni and cheese, lasagna, steak, and mashed potatoes. She also makes sure to make room on the menu for some of the dishes she grew up with, as well.</p>
<p>&#8220;I make pot roast. I make Haitian dishes,&#8221; said the star.</p>

<p>Beauvais may be trying to shed a few pounds, but that doesn&#8217;t mean she&#8217;s about to ditch her favorite desserts to do it.</p>
<p>The star revealed that her go-to dessert isn&#8217;t particularly fancy fare—she admitted to <em>Women&#8217;s Health</em> that she prefers Oreo cookies and ice cream to satisfy her sweet tooth.</p>
