<p>When it comes to losing weight, there are various options regarding meal plans and eating habits that are safe for your overall health and also offer the kind of results that will help you reach your goals.</p>
<p>However, some are more effective than others. Indeed, according to new research, <strong>your best bet might be to opt for a vegan diet that doesn&#8217;t focus on restricting calories but does include a fair share of legumes.</strong></p>
<p>A study by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine that was recently published in the <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.jandonline.org/article/S2212-2672(22)00235-0/fulltext"><em>Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics</em></a> involved 244 participants who were all considered to be overweight. While some kept to their normal diets, others were asked to switch over to a low-fat vegan diet that didn&#8217;t require restricting calories.</p>
<p>After four months, those who stuck with a vegan diet dropped 13 pounds on average while participants who specifically consumed plenty of legumes lost weight and fat mass as well as visceral adipose tissue.</p>

<p>&#8220;Our research shows that the best way to improve the quality of your health is to improve the quality of the foods you eat,&#8221; noted study co-author Hana Kahleova, MD, PhD, director of clinical research at the Physicians Committee, according to <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/955318">EurekAlert!</a>. &#8220;That means avoiding animal products and eating a vegan diet rich in fruits, vegetables, grains, and beans.&#8221;</p>
<p>When it comes to why a vegan diet is so effective, <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://danaellishunnes.com/">Dana Ellis Hunnes</a>, PhD, MPH, RD senior clinical dietitian at UCLA medical center, assistant professor at UCLA Fielding school of public health, tells <em>Eat This, Not That!</em>, &#8220;It focuses (when it&#8217;s a whole food vegan diet) on unprocessed foods that are high in fiber, vitamins, minerals, plant proteins, and water content. This type of diet is very filling and satiating, so you don&#8217;t realize you&#8217;re eating fewer calories.&#8221;<span aria-hidden="true" style="display: none">6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e</span></p>
<p>On top of that, Hunnes says &#8220;these foods are anti-inflammatory, lower in calories, and help regulate hormones,&#8221; which &#8220;is good for health and weight loss.&#8221;</p>
<p>As for legumes, Hunnes explains that &#8220;they are incredibly high in fiber and protein which makes them very filling.&#8221; Beyond that, they also &#8220;raise your body temperature during digestion (the thermic effect of food), so you burn more calories to digest them.&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Almost everyone will admit they have areas or habits in their lives they feel can be better than they are at the moment. Some people may feel they can be more kind and compassionate, others feel they can be more assertive, and others feel they can be more peaceful and happy.</span><span id="more-54389"/></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For me, a few years ago, I felt I could be less angry and explosive. I was short-tempered and would often result in very cruel words which I didn’t think through well or just simply be violent. And this was not something I enjoyed at all. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I tried a couple of anger management techniques to see if they could help but they were barely helpful. When I almost gave up on this character improvement project, it’s when I discovered mindfulness and went on to work with it to overcome this problem.</span></p>
<p><strong>A Clear Breakdown of How I Used Mindfulness to Conquer Anger</strong></p>
<h2><strong>Step 1. Research about mindfulness and get to know it</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Although I had a rough idea of awareness, I decided to do deep research on it so that I would have concrete detailed information on the practice. I used reliable sources of information online for learning about mindfulness which are credible and authoritative in the self-improvement industry. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I also read books, visited self-help websites, watched videos, and listened to podcasts on mindfulness. </span></p>
<h2><strong>Step 2. Figure out an approach plan and where to start </strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After my research, I tried to figure out how I could apply it practically in my life. I had learned that mindfulness meditation was a form of training in mindfulness so I only found it natural to begin mindfulness by training myself through meditation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">My approach plan was to start with the meditation practice and later on try out other mindfulness techniques to increase my moments of mindfulness and increase its effects in my life.</span></p>
<h2><strong>Step 3. Get started with mindfulness meditation immediately</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After having a vision and a plan of how to approach things, I made the effort of beginning the meditation practice right away. I used guided meditation resources for mindfulness meditation to help me learn how to do the meditation practice and also have a feel of what mindfulness is like. I began meditating for 5 minutes and slowly increased the duration as I got comfortable. This is an important step because most people don’t take it. They never get started at all.</span></p>
<h2><strong>Step 4. Aim to get better with every meditation session</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After a couple of meditation sessions, I noticed that, since I was still a beginner, I was making a lot of mistakes which included feeling weighed down by the practice and feeling like it was too much work to do, just to name a few. So I researched more about the problems from people who have experienced the same in the past, found effective solutions for them, and began applying them as I aimed to make some improvements in every session. Online meditation communities and forums helped me find the solutions to my meditation problems.</span></p>

<h2><strong>Step 5. Reflect and visualize about solving the problem you have</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">My goal was to control my anger to the point where it couldn’t affect me even when I was told anything that might trigger negative reactions. I desired to be told something that felt insulting and not even flinch. So I would reflect every so often on how I wanted my life to be. I would think about the specific problems that are brought by the anger and I would try to look for solutions. And then I would visualize myself applying those solutions in the needed areas. I would consciously tell my mind that the visualized solution is exactly how I’m going to be doing things in my life going forward. Doing that helped me remember to be aware of myself when such times came and made applying the solutions much easier since I had already established in my mind, through visualization, exactly how I wanted things to be.</span></p>
<h2><strong>Step 6. Put in personal effort consistently to apply the solution</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now applying the solution every time isn’t easy. The first few times might be a bit easy but making them stick and become your second nature is quite hard. What I found to help with the issue of consistency and habit creation is that you have to view the solution like a new habit you’re going to form that’s going to stick with you forever. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So when you apply it the first few times successfully, you should still remind yourself that it’s what you’re going to do again when you’re in the same situation in the near future. I reminded myself and followed it up with physical effort. If I came across anything I knew might make me angry, I would try to be aware of myself and my emotions and then remind myself what I decided to be doing, and then I would act upon it immediately. Sometimes, I would choose to walk away, and other times I would keep quiet and discipline myself to not speak at all.</span></p>
<h2><strong>Step 7. Aim to be aware of yourself</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Based on my personal experiences, I have learned that being always aware of yourself, not just when you want to solve a problem in your life, but every other moment really helps. Awareness helps you not get into that problem in the first place so that you avoid having to solve it after it has already affected your life. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, being always aware is pretty hard and needs a lot of work. I achieved it by doing mindfulness meditation daily for 10 to 20 minutes to start with.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I also worked with mindful listening and speaking when I was having conversations with other people, mindful working when working, mindful walking when commuting to work or generally any time I was walking, mindful eating during my meal times, and mindful showering when taking a bath. Ideally, taking any chance you get to be aware and fully maximize it. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, before I got to use these other mindfulness techniques, I only worked with mindfulness meditation and visualization to be aware of myself when trouble came and then used the other mindfulness techniques to be always aware of myself.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Moreover, I’d take my time in the evenings to review how my day was and how I did with regard to calming down my anger. And I’d visualize how I would approach the next day when I had the same anger problems. I’d take different versions of scenarios that would get me angry and see myself handling them much better without being lost in emotions. Doing this helped me remember automatically how to behave when I got into such situations.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To achieve all that I was dedicated, committed, disciplined, and focused on making a permanent change. Eventually, it worked!</span></p>

<p>I am 36 years old, and I would say 27 years of my life have been spent in a battle with my weight. You name the diet—I have probably tried it… more than once and failed at it. Nothing ever came easy, nothing ever made sense. I would try something new and get bored of it—which then led to gaining even more weight.</p>
<p>Growing up I was made to feel bad about myself because of my weight and eating habits. I would be forced into certain diets that never made me feel good. They left me feeling either sick, starving, or extremely bloated. There was never a consistent pattern in any of the &#8220;diets&#8221; I was on. It was either eat a pound of broccoli and fish, or you can eat greasy burgers and mayo but no bun. How was any of that sustainable or going to make me be able to lose weight the healthy way? It wasn&#8217;t.</p>
<p>All the other diets I have been on have always been about losing weight and never taught me the value of nutrition and healthy eating.</p>
<p>In 2018 I became the unhealthiest I&#8217;ve ever been. I am a wife, and a mom of two amazing boys. I would eat fast food four or five times a week and then throw out the bags to hide the evidence from my family. I had become lazy in making healthy meals that I would just throw together without thinking of nutrition. I had fallen back into so many bad habits that led to me feeling sad all day long. I hated the way I looked, how I felt, and, more importantly, the path I was heading down.</p>
<h2>The power of portion control</h2>
<p>November 2018 is when my life changed forever. It was when I asked for help and was introduced to The Ultimate Portion Fix program. I needed to know what people were doing to get these amazing results. I needed to know all about it—NOW!</p>

<p>I jumped in. I watched all the Ultimate Portion Fix videos, read all the program materials, and used the workbooks and logbooks provided. There was no cutting out carbs or fruits like so many &#8220;diets&#8221; make you do. This made sense. There was no weighing my food or counting calories. <strong>I didn&#8217;t have to give up foods that I love, I just had to pick healthier versions and proper portion sizes</strong>—something we all know but are never fully aware of not to do—until now I wish I would have known about this years ago—but what was important was that I had the tools I needed now.</p>
<p>The first few days I measured, and I prepared meals ahead of time. Did I have doubts? Of course! I had doubts this was going to work for me—because nothing in the past had. But I continued to measure, I continued to portion my meals and eat exactly how I was supposed to.</p>
<p>My cravings for sugar slowly went away and it got easier. I was learning to cook healthy meals for my family! I realized this wasn&#8217;t like anything I had ever done. I was able to eat all the food I normally would, but now <strong>I was using these containers as my guide, and they taught me how to eat all over again</strong>.</p>
<h2>Find your &#8216;why&#8217; and lose the pounds</h2>
<p>In one year, I lost 110 pounds following Autumn&#8217;s Portion Fix program and pushing play on her workouts. I used the tools that were given to me and followed them. There were no shortcuts, there was no easy way out. I knew I needed to change my old habits to see new results—long-lasting results.</p>
<p>When it got hard, I would remember her talking about our &#8220;whys.&#8221; Why was I doing this? To lose weight and be healthy. Why did I NEED to do this? Because I didn&#8217;t want to die young. I wanted to grow old with my husband and watch my boys grow up. Those answers are ALWAYS in the back of my head.</p>
<p>My boys watch me push play to Autumn&#8217;s workout programs every day and see me have fun doing it! I can make them delicious, healthy meals, and what is even more amazing is that they are aware of making healthy choices. They used to watch me sit around on a couch all day feeling sad and eating junk food. Today, they have the best version of me and it&#8217;s all because of those 6 amazing containers.</p>

<p>Most of us know losing weight requires some discipline… but have you ever imagined how challenging it would be if your job was to develop <em>and</em> test new dishes every single day? Gordon Ramsay, who&#8217;s just launched a new partnership with Tide to encourage you to live smarter by washing your clothes in cold water, is getting personal about his recent weight loss. In an exclusive interview with <em>Eat This, Not That!,</em> Ramsay reveals four massive diet and lifestyle shifts he made to lose 50 pounds, and how he&#8217;s maintained his goal for three years and counting.</p>
<p>In 2019, Ramsay and his wife, Tana, welcomed their youngest child. That was shortly after the <em>Kitchen Nightmares</em> star had shared with a U.K. publication that he&#8217;d undergone a <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5320041/Gordon-Ramsay-lost-four-stone-wife.html">weight loss</a> mission for the sake of his marriage. &#8220;I look at the pictures and think, &#8216;How did Tana stay around?'&#8221; he said, adding: &#8220;Tana has got better-looking and more gorgeous.&#8221;</p>
<p>These days, it sounds like two-year-old Oscar is the only one in the Ramsay household who, shall we say, doesn&#8217;t eat &#8220;clean.&#8221; The chef hints that life is busy at home, though he enjoys pitching in with the family. (In our conversation about Tide&#8217;s #TurnToClean initiative, we asked him the last time he needed to deal with stain removal. &#8220;The last thing . . . that ended up on my clothes was some pasta I was feeding Oscar,&#8221; he said.)</p>
<p>He continued: &#8220;Good thing I&#8217;m partnering with Tide to help keep my chef whites and my clothes at home as clean and crisp as possible. When I saw how Tide was able to deliver a superior clean even in cold water, I was convinced. <p>Ramsay also reveals that in the process of adding more beneficial fats to his diet, he also cut down his intake of dairy significantly, &#8220;I found that cutting dairy out in coffees and teas made me feel more energized.&#8221;</p>

<p>Ramsay adds that exercise is a top priority each day. &#8220;My mornings . . . [are] when I always work out,&#8221; he says. &#8220;I just try to work out on shoot days or when I&#8217;m in the kitchen early in the morning so I&#8217;m energized throughout the day.&#8221;</p>

<p>Starting in 2013, I’ve been practicing regularly at the same hot yoga studio two to three times per week. Hot yoga gives me intensity, focus, mindfulness, and dripping heat you feel in your bones even in the dead of winter. While holding a complicated pose well past your comfort zone, you start to comprehend all those buzzwords you’ve heard tossed around. The point where you are working mind, body, and soul. Where you forget your own name and everything else that led you to the class because if you waver, you might fall down in a puddle of sweat. It’s a glorious way to exercise the warrior that needs to push to the edge and just flow. So my confession of the pandemic…I haven’t stepped foot inside a yoga studio since March 2020. That’s crazy talk!</p>
<p>Just writing about it, I’m aching to be back. But the other part of me says, I’m not ready. And I’m giving myself the space to be ready. To be clear, I’m all about the yoga, and the heat, but I’m not ready to practice with other people again. Because throughout the past year and some months, I’ve been in my room, exploring different yoga routines remotely, sometimes cold, never breaking a sweat or remembering to breathe deeply. A very different sort of yoga than my group sessions. And as a former soldier, it reminded me of another time in my life, transitioning out of the military into the civilian world. Here are a few ways I used my military experience to keep me motivated on my mat:</p>
<p><strong>It’s a Group Thing Until It’s Not</strong></p>
<p>Group exercise is common in the military. It’s part of the success as our drill sergeants build us up into the fine specimens we all are. From the very beginning of our basic training, we learn to do things together and follow instructions. Running with a cadence helped me shave five whole minutes off my two-mile run, as I was filled with the baritone of the “Hard work, work,” echoed by a band of high-speed, low-drag trainees. In yoga, that energy builds throughout the class and even when I wanted to give up, I feel the collective will of others helping me through. “Lion’s breath,” anyone? I observe others manipulate their bodies into impossible beauty, and I find a way.</p>
<p>When it’s just me, I’m using a pre-recorded class to try and build that energy. It’s harder to go it alone, whether running or practicing yoga. Once I started, I could keep going and I could increase the intensity if that was the right thing for me. This was the Starbucks of Yoga, where I could customize exactly what I had in me to do that day. And I did. To be clear, I had to use every ounce of what I learned with technique from my other teachers to avoid injuries at home and overdoing it. But overdoing it wasn’t usually my issue―it was half-hearted under-doing it.</p>
<p>I remember my instructors from my studio classes saying “Leave it all on the floor.” I was used to a puddle. Now without it, on those cold winter days, I had to remind myself of what exactly I left on the mat and I didn’t have to pick it up. In the height of the pandemic, a lot of nervous anxiety and not knowing what was next. Thank you, yoga! Just like in the transition from the Army, we may be going it alone at times, but the lessons we learned together can still carry us through. Just showing up was the hardest step for me.</p>
<p><strong>Adapt to New Surroundings</strong></p>
<p>Swearing in to the Army, I learned the mantra “hurry up and wait.” Closely followed by, “embrace the suck.” I did both during this past year. I specifically used the ability to adjust to my work-from-home job and maintain a daily activity schedule. This wasn’t my first rodeo working out solo with apps. Before the pandemic, I traveled a lot for work and used various apps for whatever workout I was going to do. Yoga is the perfect post-flight activity in a hotel room. I already paid for a subscription to multiple platforms because I get bored easily. But in quarantine, working out remotely every day made this much harder. I signed into studios I attended in multiple states. I did guided meditations. I worked out outside a lot.</p>
<p><strong>Yoga HIIT/ Sculpt</strong> meant tiring out quickly then laying down with 15-minute savasana staring up at blue skies and the puffiest of clouds. My favorite location was the abandoned Gaga ball pit I dubbed the “Octagon” at a nearby school with a softer pad for my knees.</p>
<p><strong>Yin yoga</strong> became a way to relieve the pressure on joints from my stand-up desk and the new arrangement working from home. I bought a cushion to ensure it was a studio-like experience and I could fully relax into the dull pain.</p>
<p><strong>Yoga Nidra</strong> was me finding that safe place I can go to in my mind at any time with guided meditation. For those who need the mental health benefits more than anything else, this was pure rejuvenation—and I do not write that word lightly. It was beautiful restoration.</p>
<p><strong>Community is Real – Virtual or Not</strong></p>
<p>I wrote about how difficult it was going solo in my practice, but I wasn’t completely alone. Part of the way through the pandemic, I realized that I could start to follow some of my favorite yoga instructors on Instagram the same way I connected to my favorite veteran authors or creators. My community of yogis just opened up in the exact same way as my veteran community. As I started connecting with all their projects and free classes and meditations, I asked myself, Why hadn’t I thought of this before? My isolation in practice was an important step in understanding my own strength. But so was hearing how others were dealing with something similar when I finally connected to other yogis.</p>
<p>My yoga practice is a sacred thing where I connect to a very deep part of myself. Connecting to remote instructors outside of my local yoga community wasn’t something I thought of doing every day before the pandemic. With the success of connecting to other veterans, I needed this boost to grow with other virtual yoga community members―and why not with my veteran yoga community all at once? Now that’s synergy (the last buzzword, I promise!).</p>

<p><strong>Rebel Wilson</strong> has shed an incredible amount of weight over the past year, completely transforming her body along the way. While it had been previously reported that Wilson had lost a total of 60 pounds, in a July 26 Instagram Live Q&amp;A (via <a href="https://www.hellomagazine.com/healthandbeauty/health-and-fitness/20210727118407/rebel-wilson-thrills-fans-exciting-update-weight-loss/"><em>Hello!</em></a>), Wilson revealed that she&#8217;s now lost &#8220;like 70 pounds, 75 pounds, maybe a bit more.&#8221;</p>
<p>What&#8217;s more, Wilson said that her weight loss this time felt significantly different than her previous attempts to slim down. &#8220;So far, [I] have not gained any of it back, which is pretty cool, because never in my life have I been able to do that,&#8221; she explained.</p>
<p>While the star has been open about her slow and steady mentality when it comes to slimming down, she recently admitted that there are four basic changes that factored into transforming her body.</p>

<p>&#8220;Adequate sleep, walking, hydrating, [and] drinking water,&#8221; were all key to her major transformation, Wilson admitted. &#8220;You&#8217;ll always see me with a FIJI [water] in my hand, and balance it with the nutrition,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>In a recent interview, Wilson revealed that she had also made a vested effort to swap some of her less healthy eating habits with other ways of rewarding herself.</p>

<p>&#8220;I just bought a Yves Saint Laurent handbag after finishing <em>The Almond and the Seahorse</em> because I&#8217;m trying to be healthier and treat myself with things that are not food anymore,&#8221; she told <a href="https://www.instyle.com/celebrity/rebel-wilson-year-of-health"><em>InStyle</em></a>.</p>
<p>While Wilson may be looking and feeling better than ever these days, she&#8217;s admitted to having a few regrets about her transformation—namely, that she didn&#8217;t attempt it sooner.</p>
<p>&#8220;Now that I know I can do it, sometimes I feel sad that I didn&#8217;t do it earlier. Maybe I should have tried when I was 30, not 40,&#8221; she told the publication.</p>
<p>&#8220;What I learned is it&#8217;s really the little things that I do every day that make a difference…Anyone can go on walks and drink more water and do little, consistent things that&#8217;ll improve their lives. It&#8217;s not too late to start, no matter what age you are.&#8221;</p>

<p>While Raven-Symoné has shed a significant amount of weight, she tells <a href="https://hollywoodlife.com/2021/07/01/raven-symone-weight-loss-interview/">HollywoodLife</a> in an exclusive interview that she&#8217;s not done yet.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s definitely an ongoing journey for me. I set out to lose weight so I could be more healthy,&#8221; she explained.</p>

<p>In her HollywoodLife interview, the multihyphenate star said that she plans to continue practicing intermittent fasting for the foreseeable future.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m still not subscribing to the standard American diet, which has made a mockery of the human body and created the obese epidemic that is our world today…And I continue to fast because it&#8217;s how humans are supposed to eat,&#8221; she explained. While, in the past, Raven-Symoné has admitted to doing multi-day fasts, she says she&#8217;s since stopped, sticking to a daily fasting period instead.</p>
<p>&#8220;As I continue to sustain those tactics, I know that my body&#8217;s going to continuously change,&#8221; she explained.</p>

<p>In a June 11 interview with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLLsGRPf-JY"><em>Good Morning America</em></a>, Raven-Symoné admitted that adhering to a low-carb way of eating has been an essential part of her weight loss, as well.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am low-carb as much as I can be,&#8221; she revealed. In a March <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CMa8cihBJJk/">Instagram post</a>, she explained, &#8220;I don&#8217;t eat any bread,&#8221; noting that she was sticking to whole foods, including lean proteins and vegetables, instead.</p>

<p>While the <em>That&#8217;s So Raven</em> star may have dropped significant weight so far, she says there&#8217;s no specific number she&#8217;s aiming for.</p>
<p>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t set out with a visual idea of what to look like,&#8221; she told HollywoodLife.<br />&#8220;I don&#8217;t feel that I&#8217;m ever going to say, &#8216;This is how I&#8217;m supposed to look,&#8217; because when I get to a certain weight, I always find happiness within myself, whatever what size I am.&#8221;</p>

<p>Giudici, who is on the NutriSystem Partner Plan with husband <strong>Sean Lowe</strong>, says that the plan has helped her address her cravings without going overboard.</p>

<p>The NutriSystem Partner Plan is a diet specifically designed with couples in mind—and both Giudici and Lowe are sticking to the plan to shed weight, with Lowe dropping 12 pounds thus far.</p>
<p>&#8220;Losing weight can be really frustrating sometimes, so having a buddy to keep you motivated can make a huge difference,&#8221; said Giudici.</p>

<p>In her interview with the <em>Daily Mail</em>, Giudici said she&#8217;s been working out a few times a week to stay in shape.</p>
<p>So, what&#8217;s her go-to exercise routine? In a 2017 Interview with <a href="https://www.dmagazine.com/health-fitness/2017/02/whats-in-catherine-giudici-lowes-gym-bag/"><em>D Magazine</em></a>, Giudici revealed that she typically does a combination of cardio and weights twice a week at a local gym with her trainer.</p>
<p>&#8220;I do not like to work out, but afterward I&#8217;m always glad I do,&#8221; she told the magazine.</p>

<p>With three kids at home, Giudici has admitted that it&#8217;s not always easy to find time to prepare healthy food. However, she&#8217;s been able to stay on track by enjoying NutriSystem&#8217;s grab-and-go options.</p>

<p>After gaining 30 pounds amid the pandemic, Facinelli retrained his food habits by practicing mindful eating.</p>
<p>&#8220;You have a subconscious pattern of just grabbing a snack, and you can be halfway through it before you even consciously realize that you are eating bad food. Being more mindful of this helps, so hypnotherapy techniques can make you more aware of what you are doing,&#8221; he told <a href="https://www.muscleandfitness.com/athletes-celebrities/pro-tips/peter-facinelli-incredible-transformation-using-mind-over-matter/"><em>Muscle &amp; Fitness</em></a>.</p>

<p>To avoid reaching for junk food as a form of comfort during times of stress, Facinelli began practicing other stress-relieving techniques on a regular basis.</p>
<p>&#8220;You can calm your nervous system down very easily just by breathing in for five seconds, and breathing out for five,&#8221; Facinelli explained. &#8220;And then you get less anxious.&#8221;</p>

<p>Rather than simply willing himself to eat a healthier diet, Facinelli made the conscious choice to replace his less than stellar eating habits with more health-conscious ones.</p>
<p>&#8220;You can be in the habit of being healthy, or you can be in the habit of being unhealthy,&#8221; he explained.</p>

<p>Facinelli told <em>Muscle &amp; Fitness</em> that visualizing himself as a fitter, healthier person was a major component in actually transforming his body.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you dress for a certain job, the rest of the world will believe that you are that person,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;When I lost that weight, I had an image in my mind, I printed pictures of people with physiques that I admire, and I would look at those for inspiration.&#8221;</p>

<p><em>Real Housewives of New York City</em> star <strong>Dorinda Medley</strong> is on a weight loss journey, and she&#8217;s already seen serious results from her hard work.</p>
<p>In a new <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/COQfFS9APlC/">post to her Instagram</a>, Medley revealed that she&#8217;d joined Nutrisystem and has since lost 14 pounds, thanks to the plan&#8217;s pre-portioned snacks and meals.</p>
<p>&#8220;I feel the energy to wake up in the morning and jump out of bed,&#8221; says Medley in a new ad for the program.</p>
<p>Medley has been open with her fans about her weight loss journey over the past few months, debuting her new figure in a swimsuit pic posted to her Instagram on April 5.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited to be wearing a bathing suit with confidence!&#8221; she captioned the radiant photo.</p>
<p>Medley explained that the best part of her newly adopted meal plan is the variety of foods she can eat, specifically citing the plan&#8217;s pasta and chocolate options as her favorites.</p>
<p>Medley&#8217;s famous friends were quick to praise the star&#8217;s new look, too. &#8220;You look amazing 🔥,&#8221; wrote <em>Real Housewives of Orange County</em> alum <strong>Tamra Judge</strong>, while <em>Real Housewives of New Jersey</em> star <strong>Dolores Catania</strong> commented, &#8220;Bathing beauty.&#8221; <em>Vanderpump Rules</em> star <strong>Lala Kent</strong> added, &#8220;You look amazing.&#8221;</p>
<p>Feeling confident in her swimsuit isn&#8217;t the only milestone Medley&#8217;s hit during her weight loss journey, however. In a post to her Instagram on April 6, the star zipped up her skinny jeans on camera.</p>
<p>&#8220;My favorite jeans finally fit and I did it the healthy way!&#8221; she <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CNU1eyFA3LE/">captioned the video</a>. &#8220;It&#8217;s a happy Tuesday.&#8221;</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not her diet alone that&#8217;s gotten Medley in such great shape. The reality star has also resumed leading her Dorobics aerobics classes, which she originally debuted on <em>RHONY</em>—but this time, she&#8217;s using the workout plan to raise money for charity.</p>
<p>&#8220;Dooorobics is back! Join us for live, virtual Dorobics class on Friday, April 23 at 6 pm Est. Expect throwback music, dance and lots of fun,&#8221; she <a href="https://twitter.com/DorindaMedley/status/1381714808735637504">announced to fans</a> in mid-April, revealing that all proceeds from the event would benefit Ronald McDonald House New York.</p>
