Are you tired of worrying about money? If so, why not take the time and make an effort to get your money-related life in order and achieve financial peace of mind? Wouldn’t it be nice to say goodbye to worrying about high-interest credit cards, multiple student loans you’ve been paying on for years, and monthly budgets that leave little room for personal spending? Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to deal with the challenge of getting to the finish line. In addition to refinancing school debt, explore the possibility of setting up an automated savings account, removing budget holes that devour income, investing on a regular basis, and assisting local charitable causes at the same time. Here’s how to get started on the road to monetary peace of mind.

Refinance Your Student Loans

If you want to give a major boost to your money-related mental health status, consider refinancing education loans that are lingering on your monthly budget. The best thing about this technique is that it’s an effective way to take control of your spending and beat the interest rate crunch by locking in a single monthly payment at a rate you can live with. Plus, by refinancing school loans, it’s usually possible to get more favorable repayment times, terms, and other conditions. The refinanced loan comes with a once-per-month payment and a fresh contract. Applying is done entirely online and takes little time. There’s a good reason that many working adults opt to refinance student loans as it saves them money in the long run.

Save And Invest

Consider saving 5% or more of your income. It might take a while to work up to that amount, but most people can get there after trying. Ideally, you want to aim for about 10%, but in the beginning, focus on building the habit of saving and not focusing on the amount. Along with traditional savings, set up an investment account with a reliable online broker. Doing so is an ideal way to put your money to work. Of course, there are no guarantees that investments like stocks, commodities and real estate shares will appreciate in value, but it makes good financial sense to invest at least a small percentage of your monthly income.

Eliminate Budget Holes

Do an in-depth scan of the monthly budget and try to find expenses and spending categories that you can easily eliminate. For many working adults, it’s simple to cut out fast food, convenience store purchases, and a few of the meals they eat out each month. Explore making weekly menus and eating at home more often as a way to slice the grocery bill.

Donate Time To A Local Charity

It costs nothing out of pocket to help local charities. Finding one you believe in and giving your time once or twice per week is a good way to increase self-improvement efforts as well as a great way of contributing to community betterment without spending needed funds. Most working adults appreciate what they have in terms of financial resources, a decent job, and a good life. Additionally, there’s a very human need to help others. Taking the time to work at a food bank, help low-income families file tax forms, or contribute in other ways to your neighbors goes a long way toward building financial peace of mind.

Have you ever had a repeated thought that will not stop?

The process of continuously thinking about the same ideas is called rumination.

The best way to control rumination or negative thoughts is to distract your mind with other ideas or to find a way to resolve the problem.

Just think – distraction or action.

But it may not be as easy as it sounds.

If your circular thoughts prevent you from living life or going out, it’s time to take action.

Whether you try counting or cooking, there are simple ways to help you get something off your mind.

What Does It Mean When You Can’t Get Something Off Your Mind?

Our thoughts and our behavior are two of the things under our complete control. Or so they say. But occasionally, intrusive thoughts about unwanted events sometimes invade your mind and overwhelm you.

Whether you are worried about a past event or a potential encounter, negative rumination robs you of your present well-being, leading to severe problems like depression or anxiety.

Why do we ruminate on negative things?

We are trying to solve a problem.

We want to avoid a negative outcome.

Our brains are in a feedback loop with our neurons repeatedly firing.

We have developed bad habits of always focusing on the negative.

Why does my brain never stop thinking?

The problem with ruminating is that we inappropriately focus on the negatives – rather than the positives. And concentrating on negatives activates your fight-or-flight response.

The fight or flight or stress response triggers the release of hormones that prepares the body for a battle or a fast getaway.

In addition to physiological responses, the stress response shuts down your creative problem-solving thought process.

You must completely disengage from the thought pattern to find a solution that will silence the problem. Humans, however, are not very good at stopping the thought process.

Experimental psychologists often refer to this as “the white bear phenomenon.” The psychological exercise is well-known. It refers to the belief that the deliberate suppression of thoughts makes them more likely to resurface.

If you are told to think of a white bear and then told to stop thinking about it, the white bear image will stay in your mind.

The reason? The brain has no “Off” button. To minimize thought, you need to activate a different stream of thinking.

How to Get Something Off Your Mind: 19 Ideas for Letting Go

Holding onto a thought or problem can be overwhelming and debilitating. But there are things that we can do to redirect the mind.

As it is easier to stop a ball rolling downhill at the start, it is easier to stop ruminating thoughts when they first start than when they have gained speed.

And with a little effort and a little trial and error, we can minimize the ruminating process.

Utilizing all the tools available, we have compiled a list of 19 ways to describe how to take your mind off something and begin to regain control over your thoughts.

1. Distract Yourself

Psychologists know behavior can change emotions. You can raise your emotional frequency if you do something that makes you feel better.

Once you feel better, thinking clearly and making appropriate decisions are more manageable.

2. Do a Puzzle

Accomplishing something, anything, can change our mindset.

Doing something that stimulates the logical and problem-solving portions of the brain also acts as a distraction task by simply giving you somewhere else to focus your attention. It also promotes well-being through the successful completion of a job.

3. Practice Mantra Meditation

Through the repetitive use of a calming sound or positive affirmation, Mantra meditation focuses our thoughts on the present and now.

We allow our thoughts to pass through the mind without engaging them during meditation. Even a short ten-minute session of mantra meditation and focused breathing can free your mind from persistent ideas.

4. Exercise Regularly

Exercise keeps us fit and strong. Vigorous activity also contributes to both good physical and mental health. It also encourages healthy sleep patterns. These are all things that contribute to positive health.

Exercise also releases endorphins — feel-good chemicals that help us feel good and happy.

Also, most activities require concentration, distracting your mind from repetitive thoughts. Next time you can’t let something go, go for a run or a swim.

5. Laugh and Smile

It has long been held that laughter is the best medicine. Believe it or not, smiling makes you happy and scientific studies prove it.

The brain registers muscle movement in your face when you smile and triggers the release of feel-good chemicals and hormones.

A more optimistic outlook makes it easier to change how you think. This mood change, in turn, makes us happier – creating a positive feedback loop.

6. Discuss the Issue

Talking can be helpful in a couple of different ways. Acknowledging that you do not know how to get something off your mind may provide enough assistance.

Also, talking with someone you trust or are unfamiliar with the issue may provide perspective as to why you keep thinking about something.

7. Practice Journaling

Journaling intrusive thoughts may help get those ideas out of your head and down on paper. Sometimes called a worry journal, the act of writing gives you the perspective that ruminating does not allow.

Journaling helps us tap the breaks in the body’s stress response to activate our parasympathetic nervous system –activating the rest and digest response and calming the body down after the danger passes.

It is also a safe way to revisit an issue, reframe and solve it. Once in your journal, you have complete control.

8. Clear All Triggers

If something in your life constantly reminds you of a thing, wrong decision, or person, clear your surroundings to remove all triggers.

Clear out physical stimuli such as clothes, pictures, or keepsakes. Also, clear out the social triggers. Unfollow negative influences on social media, and change coffee houses, so these are not a constant reminder.

9. Reframe Thoughts

If the issue persists enough to keep your thoughts involved throughout the day, try reframing the problem.

Like rewriting a sentence, this small action may help you change your perspective and even find a solution that you can live with — action is the antidote to anxiety.

When you have a resolution to the situation, you will have both reduced the need for repetitive thinking and found something constructive to focus on replacing those circular thoughts.

10. Organize Your Environment

Cleanliness has often been compared to a healthy mind or a peaceful state. It isn’t easy to know how to get your mind off something.

However, a calming environment free from clutter can help you get into a more relaxed state of mind. Without the distraction of trash or clutter, your mind tends to focus more on positive thoughts.

11. Practice Gratitude

Many studies advocate the positive physiological and mental health effects of gratitude. Expressing gratitude allows you to live in the present and see the positives.

This practice is contrary to repetitive thinking, which tends to focus on the negatives of an idea or situation.

Creating a blessings list each morning or simply saying thank you on your way to school or work are ways to express gratitude.

12. Practice Deep Breathing

A person can practice deep breathing anytime, without any specialized training. As the mind begins to race, the body’s natural response is to speed up the heart and breathing rate. A slow, downward spiral ensues, creating an anxious mind.

Studies have shown deep breathing slows or even counteracts this process. And a person can practice deep breathing anytime, without any specialized training.

The MHA suggests that taking slow, deep breaths can reduce the stress response helping to quiet or stop repetitive thoughts.

13. Recite a Positive Mantra

It is usually negative thoughts that take hold and refuse to go away. You can break the reflective cycle if negative thoughts are replaced with a positive affirmation, such as things will work out. Increased anxiety, stress, and a type of self-fulfilling prophecy ensue.

Using positive affirmations also helps to make better choices and see things from a different and more positive light.

14. Read a Book

Reading takes concentration and effort versus watching a movie or TV show. Reading a book distracts the mind and allows us to enjoy new people and a new environment.

As you read, you establish a buffer zone between you and your thoughts. Reading about far-off lands and different cultures helps contextualize your ideas.

15. Learn Something New

Learning helps grow your mind, literally. New information and experiences create and expand the neural pathways of the brain.

Studies show that when we learn new information, the density of myelin increases – changing the makeup of our brains.

Even if you are not in school, try an app to learn a new language or solve a puzzle. Another way of distracting and refocusing your mind is to take a trip.

Whether it is a short drive or a weekend trip, new experiences will help redirect your thoughts. Learning refocuses the mind and enables you to achieve a more enlightened perspective.

16. Volunteer for an Hour

While the suggestions here about how to get something off your mind are varied, most follow the basic premise of distraction and perspective. If you can not change your thoughts, find a new environment.

Volunteering is a great way to shift the focus from you to others and help your community. Take an hour or town and volunteer at the local shelter or animal hospital. Assisting others allows us to recognize that we live in a big world and may reframe repetitive thoughts.

17. Play Music

Music has long been known to influence thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Consequently, the idea that we can change our mood by changing musical genres is real.

The works of Mozart have been shown to enhance studying and memory. Repetitive drums or chanting create a meditative state. And samba music makes us dance.

Music therapy is often used to promote emotional well-being and cope with stress. The psychological effects of music can be powerful and wide-ranging. Some research even suggests that musical choices highlight different aspects of a personality.

In addition to listening to different musical genres, try learning a new piece if you play an instrument. The focus needed will help change your mindset.

18. Talk to Your Doctor

Racing or repetitive thoughts may have an underlying medical cause and is common in specific personalities, including perfectionists.

If you find it repeatedly challenging to calm your thoughts or distract yourself by some of the methods listed here, check with your physician.

Repeated episodes of racing thoughts, a low mood, problems sleeping, or increased anxiety can indicate organic issues and illnesses.

19. Try Aromatherapy

The use of aromatherapy is a well-known Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese medical practice that dates back thousands of years.

Concentrated essential oils are extracted from plants. These oils have aromatic properties that are used for therapeutic and medicinal purposes.

Lavender is thought to be calming, according to research. Other therapeutic oils include sweet basil, orange, jasmine, and valerian.

Final Thoughts

As our days become more stressful, it is often hard to figure out how to get your mind off something. Incorporating one or more methods while focusing on the positives in our daily lives is an excellent start to controlling our thoughts.

People talk within themselves throughout the waking time which is known as internal conversation, internal monologue, self-talk, inner speech, inner discourse, or internal discourse. It is quite natural and normal. However, some people argue in their heads which leads to internal conflict, anxiety, and depression. Most challenges in the individuals arise due to the arguments within their minds. When people feed their minds with negative information they evolve as negative individuals whereas when people feed their minds with positive information they evolve as positive individuals.

Don’t waste your precious mental time

When you argue in your head, you poison your mind and waste your precious time. It may have adverse effects on the people around you. People often think that wasting time is physical. It is mental as well. People waste more of their mental time and less physical time in their lives. When you think about negative people and unpleasant events from the past excessively you waste your precious time mentally. Research shows that people waste 30 percent of their time thinking about their unpleasant past that cannot be changed. So, learn to live in the present without thinking about your unpleasant past and worrying about the future. Feed your mind with positive thoughts and work constructively and creatively to achieve success.

Avoid becoming a chronic overthinker

Overcome the paralysis of analysis. Avoid thinking as follows: I wish I succeeded as an entrepreneur. I wish I was born into a healthy family. I wish I had a regular education. I wish I had education from eminent educational institutions. I wish I had a mentor or coach in my early life to become successful. Avoid irrational imaginative internal arguments. Be realistic and practical. Be positive and confident. See the light in you to lead your life with peace and happiness.

“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” – Marcus Aurelius

Avoid imaginary irrational arguments in your head

Here are some tips to avoid arguing in your head. Don’t take unhealthy criticism personally. Be thick-skinned. Avoid the individuals who enjoy arguing with others. Don’t react to them. Ignore them. Act positively. Detach from negative individuals and attach with positive individuals. Have self-awareness. Understand the power of internal monologue and leverage it constructively. Write down the journal. For instance, whenever there is an issue or conflict in my mind, I write it down. It serves as a therapy. I get relief and a solution for it. Additionally, I unlock the power of my subconscious mind to find solutions for the problems and resolve the conflicts effectively.

Rehearsing arguments is a double-edged sword

Research shows that rehearsing arguments in your mind end up causing more harm than good leading to mental illness and damaging your body. It adversely affects your mind and body. However, litigation lawyers often rehearse a lot mentally before they actually argue in the courts. Before writing an article or research paper, I play out the whole scenario. Before uploading a video on my YouTube channel, I play out the whole scenario. Before I attend an interview or podcast or webinar as a guest, I play out the whole scenario. It helps me contribute my best as I anticipate probable questions and rehearse with my answers. So, playing out the whole scenario is a double-edged sword. It all depends on how you use your mind and subconscious mind.

Master your mind to lead your life mindfully

Avoid war in your head. Remember that the internal enemy is more dangerous than the external enemy. So, avoid your internal arguments to check your internal enemy. Calm down your irrational argumentative mind to lead your life mindfully and meaningfully. Your mind is a masterpiece. You can use it either for constructive or destructive activities. It is under your control. Don’t make a mess of it. Use it constructively to build a better world. To summarize, use the power of the subconscious mind positively to stop arguing in your head to excel as a positive individual and perceive others positively. You can talk great things with others and inspire them. Remember, you are what you feed your mind. So feed your mind positively to excel as a healthy individual. To conclude, avoid imaginary irrational arguments in your head to lead your life mindfully and meaningfully.

Movement is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. It helps us stay strong and flexible, and it can also be a great way to relieve stress. But not all movement is created equal. In this article, we’ll explore what mindful movement is and how you can add it to your health and wellness routine.

What Is Mindful Movement?

Mindful movement is an approach to exercise that focuses on being present in the moment. It’s all about being aware of your body and its surroundings, as well as moving in a manner that is both safe and healthy for you. Mindful movement activities range from attending a yoga class to taking a stroll in nature. The most crucial element is focusing on your body and breath while you move rather than letting your thoughts wander.

Healthy Mind Healthy Body: 3 Benefits of Mindful Movement

Here are three benefits of mindful movement:

1. Reduces Stress

The fight-or-flight response is activated when you’re stressed. In this state, your heart rate and blood pressure rise, and your muscles tense up.[*] Mindful movement can help you relax and reduce stress. A study of 25 patients with multiple sclerosis found that mindful movement helped reduce stress and pain and improve relationships, walking, and sleep quality.[*]

2. Improves Sleep and Relaxation

Some research suggests that practicing mindful movement before bed can help you fall asleep faster and have a more restful sleep.[*] Practice mindful movement before bed to wind down from your day. You may be surprised at how much better you sleep!

3. Improves Quality of Life

A mindful approach to movement may not only improve your health but may also enhance your quality of life. According to one study, breast cancer survivors who completed a Mindful Movement Program had a better quality of life.[*]

Why Is Mindful Movement Important?

Mindful movement is beneficial because it helps you stay healthy physically and mentally. When you pay attention to your movement you are more likely to engage in physical activity and ensure that you use good form rather than overdoing it.[*] This can help you avoid injuries and reduce stress and anxiety. When you focus on your body and breath, it’s easier to put other worries aside, resulting in a calmer mind.

How Can You Incorporate Mindful Movement Into Your Life?

There are several methods to incorporate mindful movement into your daily routine. Here are a few strategies to get you started:

1. Walking Outside

Walking outdoors is a great way to get some fresh air and move your body. Pay attention to the sights, sounds, and smells around you as you walk. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring it back to the present moment.

2. Yoga

Yoga is a popular form of mindful movement that you can do at home or in a studio. There are many different types of yoga, so find one that’s right for you. Try to focus on your breath and body as you move through the poses.

3. Qigong

Qigong is a Chinese martial art that involves moving the body in specific ways while focusing on the breath.[*] Qigong improves balance, flexibility, and strength. Qigong classes and videos are available online if you’d like to learn more about this practice.

4. Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that has been practiced for hundreds of years and offers many benefits.[*] Some Tai Chi styles are faster than others, yet they all emphasize the same idea: focused breathing as you move from one posture to the next. You may find Tai Chi courses online.

5. Mindful Swimming

If you enjoy relaxing in the water, you’ll love mindful swimming. This is a great way to get some cardio while also focusing on your breath and movement. Start slowly and focus on your technique. As you become more comfortable, you can increase your speed. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Start with a gentle breaststroke or sidestroke.

Use smooth, even strokes.

Pay attention to your breath and movement.

Focus on the sensation of the water moving over your body.

6. Lifting Weights

One of the best ways to keep your mind and body healthy is by lifting weights.[*] Mindful weight lifting can help you concentrate on proper form, avoid injuries, and achieve your fitness goals. To get a greater result from your strength training, take it slow and concentrate on small isometric exercises. For instance, holding a bicep curl for five seconds and then slowly releasing it is more effective than quickly lifting and lowering the weight. You can also try other exercises such as tricep kickbacks, chest presses, squats, and shoulder shrugs.

Final Thoughts About Mindful Movement

Practicing mindful movement can help you live a healthier life. It can be a great way to reduce stress, enhance your mental health, and increase your physical activity level. By being more aware of your body and its movement, you can become more in tune with your own physical and emotional needs. In turn, this may help you to make better choices about your health and wellbeing.

One of the saddest things about betrayal is that it doesn’t come from our enemies. It is the loved ones who inflict this emotional pain on us! And while the physical wounds often heal quickly, sadly, the same can’t be said about the scars of betrayal. Betrayal often maims caring souls in a manner that no words or phrases can describe entirely. Betrayal trauma can lead to several physiological & psychological issues. Primarily because of these reasons, it forms the subject matter of this discussion. We will look at how this traumatic experience can have a long-lasting impact on a person’s mind and body.

Psychological Impact Of Betrayal Trauma

Our brain has an in-built response to stress, anxiety, and depression. The limbic and hippocampal regions constitute the emotional response centre in our brain. Critical events unfold in these regions, changing how our brain defines abstract concepts like trust, safety, and relations. In simple words, post-betrayal, the emotional response centre enters into the state of a survival mode. The limbic system now starts acting much like an alarm; its constant ringing makes the hippocampus scan and search for memories. That is when accuracy, trust, and confidence begin to fade away from one’s system. Doubt becomes your companion for most of your day; feelings of insecurity and unsafety tarnish your overall profile. Every little thought you once cherished now feels a tainted, dislocated memory.

Of course, this is a rather simplistic explanation of the effects of betrayal on the brain. In most cases, unfortunately, these changes are not short-term. Continuous exposure to stress can make the limbic system enter a prolonged state of hyper or hypo-arousal. The way your mind perceives changes and recalls memories post-betrayal is heartbreakingly contrasting to how it would typically process these events.

We have just overviewed the psychological reasons for betrayal trauma. Now, let us analyze the responses to betrayal trauma that we commonly observe in our communities and societies. Freezing at the spot is one of the widely spotted responses; fight or flight response is what many people come up with, often following an emotionally upsetting process. We mentioned hyperarousal of the limbic system earlier, leading to a fight or flight response. Feelings of intense anger, fear, and panic typically constitute the fight or flight response. We are sure that some of you might have experienced such feelings suddenly, regardless of betrayal trauma. The exact opposite of this psychological response happens when the limbic system is hypo-aroused. The disconnect between mind and body is visibly discernible during such an event. The disconnect is accompanied by mind fog, memory lapses of the worst degrees, and a lack of emotional relatability. Again, it is worth reiterating that once your emotional response centre enters either of these states, the effects on the brain’s overall ability are drastic. Processing feelings, creating memories, and sometimes, even being in the present becomes a daunting challenge.

Interestingly, there is a third type of response to betrayal trauma. It is what is described as appeasement or people-pleasing in the common lexicon. Once the sword of betrayal scars a person’s heart, it becomes anxious to hold on to whatever relations it still has got around. And so, validating and catering to other people’s needs becomes a must-do-it-at-all-costs event. While it looks like a lovely thing to do on its face, this appeasing approach can lead to an identity crisis in the long run. Result? More betrayals and the associated trauma in the future!

Physiological Impact Of Betrayal Trauma

The psychological impact of betrayal trauma is not the only bad thing about the experience. Apart from the mind succumbing to the mounting emotional pressures, the human body can also fall prey to numerous physical complications. We talk about the physiological impact of betrayal trauma in this section.

Apart from becoming a home to many stress-induced diseases, the human body’s overall look can change significantly. Emotional disturbance can keep one in bed all day long, leading to issues like weight management. Some people try to find comfort in food and become too reliant on comfort food for their happiness. Obesity is the ultimate result of such an approach. Not everyone overeats, though; some heartbreaks can take away your appetite.

The terrible thoughts just don’t seem to leave the mind alone post-betrayal trauma—problems like hypertension and fluctuating heartbeat stem from this continuous overthinking. Things don’t stop here; matters can worsen as one starts feeling wary of intimacy. And it is perfectly understandable as well; trusting someone is not easy. It takes time, effort, and all of your heart before you can trust or give someone your trust.

Minor physical complications often ignored or attributed to other reasons can also stem from the seed of betrayal trauma. These physical complications include insomnia, nausea, vomiting, rapid hair loss, brain fog, etc. Remember, most of our bodies’ physical problems are a by-product of what goes up there in our minds. So, a road to recovery starts from there; one must cleanse their thoughts first. Only then can one hope to initiate betrayal trauma recovery.

Conclusion

We have painted a rather gloomy picture about betrayal trauma for most of this discussion. And we will be honest, battling the waves of depressions that hit one after going through a traumatic experience of this nature can be a daunting challenge. But betrayal trauma recovery is not an improbable thought. Several strategies can help you recover; finding empathetic support is one of the primary keys to unlocking the doors of betrayal trauma recovery. It might sound a little surprising, but today, betrayal trauma specialists provide their services globally. Seeking the help of one such specialist is an option you can consider. Support groups are another great way to share your sorrow and find solace by forging new relations. Remember, recovery demands patience, but it will give you peace! On that hopeful note, we bid you farewell from this space!

Every year, we make new year’s resolutions that we hope to follow to become better people, both professionally and in our personal lives. After almost two years with the COVID-19 pandemic, changing for the better almost takes on new meaning as we strive to stay happy and healthy during the toughest of times.

As we make resolutions for 2022, it’s important to think about how you can improve yourself so you can thrive in the new year. We are here to provide guidance on how you can adopt new habits and make positive changes with your money, your body, and the world in general.

A Financially Successful New Year

Ever since the pandemic hit, many people have struggled a bit with finances, especially if your job had to close its doors during the lockdown. Now, with vaccines making the rounds, this is a good time to start thinking about how you can build a financially strong 2022, and the first step is to create a budget.

By writing down every expense you pay monthly and comparing that with how much you bring in, you can paint a clear picture of what you really need and what you can let go. For instance, during the lockdowns, you have likely collected a fair share of streaming services. If you don’t watch them any longer, then you can eliminate them from your budget and save a bundle.

The pandemic probably also taught you a good lesson about having a financial backup plan, so make 2022 a year where you vow to save money for your future. You can make this process easier by asking your employer to split your earnings between your checking account and a separate high-interest savings account where you will earn extra interest. This financial investment is a good way to be prepared for anything.

On the subject of money, another resolution should be how you can evolve in your professional life and learn more skills that could separate you from your coworkers. That could include taking management classes or learning a new language. There are many benefits to bilingualism, including the ability to appreciate new cultures and expand your mind. One of the most significant is the ability to communicate with more people at your job. As companies become increasingly global, they will need people who can talk with clients from other countries and help their business thrive. You could be the person that they turn to, and your career could soar to all new heights.

Strengthen Your Body And Mind

One of the most common new year’s resolutions that many people make is the desire to exercise more and lose weight. Again, the pandemic taught us that being healthy is a good way to eliminate the possible comorbidities that can make us more susceptible to COVID-19, so if there is any year to take that resolution seriously, it’s this one. The good news is that you don’t have to run marathons to reach your fitness goals. Instead, 150 minutes of exercise every week can give you the energy you need to lose weight and feel great.

The best way to stay fit is to vary your activities, and a great way to feel better in body and mind is to go camping. You can either go to a local campground or put up a tent in your backyard. Whatever you do, always check the weather forecast ahead of time and make sure you and the kids wear plenty of sunscreen and bug spray. Camping is great because it gives you the chance to engage in different physical activities, from hiking to swimming in a local lake, and those activities are great for burning calories.

By getting outside, you will not only feel better physically, but the fresh air is also great for helping to clear your mind and lessen your anxieties. By surrounding ourselves with greenery, we renew the connection that we have with the natural world and we feel at ease. Even when you are not outside, you must keep a positive mind frame in 2022. Wake up every morning and smile in the mirror or do something that you love for an hour a day and try not to sweat the small stuff.

Think More Sustainably In 2022

As time has gone on and the news continues to tell us about the negative effects of climate change, many of us have begun to think more about how we can make a difference for the environment and our planet. If you’re in this group, then start turning your thoughts into actions in 2022.

There are many little changes that you can make every day to help the planet. Even by turning electronics off when you are out of the room, you are eliminating the need to burn the fossil fuels that are required to produce that electricity. You can go the extra mile by also unplugging your TV and other unnecessary devices when not in use because even if they are off, they still use a small amount of electricity to remain in standby mode.

You can also make a big difference by changing how you shop. In addition to bringing a reusable cloth bag, you should also skip the chain stores and instead get your food at a local grocer or farmers market. Not only will you get better tasting food, but you’ll help to reduce the need for large trucks to transport food to the chain restaurant from across the country which results in unnecessary pollution. Local food is often sold close to where it is grown, so the risk of pollution is greatly reduced. You could also consider growing a garden in your backyard which will provide the freshest food possible and you’ll get great exercise as you work.

As you can see, there are many habits you can adopt to make the standard new year’s resolutions a reality. Start with the tips discussed above and continue to evolve over the next year and beyond.

Ten is a great age for a child. Their confidence levels are starting to grow, so joining clubs and experiencing new activities without their parents is something they can enjoy. Plus, they do not yet face any of the challenges that teenagers do. Ten is an age at which a child is still free to enjoy exploring the world through play.

Selecting the best toys for 10 year old girls is well worth taking a bit of time over. Choosing wisely will help your daughter, niece, sister, or granddaughter to become more confident and learn new skills. Something that will stand them in good stead as they get older

Here are some of the things you might want to consider when buying toys for a 10-year-old girl. Along with a few tips and suggestions to help you with your decision.

Will They Be Interested In The Toy?

There is no point in buying a little girl a doll if she does not like playing with them. It is far better to think about their interests, hobbies, and their toy preferences and buy accordingly. As you can see from this study every child has their own idea of what a great toy is.

Will The Toy Help Them To Learn A New Skill?

Toys that help your child to learn a new skill or enhance the ones they already have are a great idea. At 10, most children enjoy expressing their creative side. Arts and crafts toys are great for enabling them to do this. As are modelling kits and builder toys like Meccano. They are an especially good choice for a girl who is interested in going into engineering. At 10, many girls also enjoy playing with STEM toys.

Is The Toy Fun?

Play needs to be fun as well as educational. Studies show that children who play often and have fun develop faster. So be sure your 10-year-old daughter or granddaughter has access to toys that enable her to let off some steam, laugh, and just enjoy being a kid.

Outdoor toys are especially good for this. They are also a great way of encouraging little girls to stay active.

Toys That Enable Girls To Try Out Different Looks

At 10, children start to become far more conscious of the way they look. This is natural, but you don’t want them to become too worried about it. Play is a safe way for them to explore and develop their own sense of style. Having a dress-up box is great for this. Kids have a lot of fun turning themselves and their friends into someone else.

Toys That Encourage Group Play

At 10, most children start to want to spend more time with their friends than their families. They want to have people around to play and for sleepovers. So, it is worth buying toys that encourage group play. Board games can be a good option, especially for rainy days. Usually, five or six can play at the same time.

Dress-up and beauty toys such as nail kits are another example of a toy that a group of friends could enjoy together.

In conclusion

The above suggestions are just a starting point. If you still don’t feel inspired just go to somewhere like Amazon and check out their list of best-selling toys.

For you, intrusive thoughts are just a part of life.

Something good happens, and your mind immediately conjures up a horrifying tableau of disasters.

But what if controlling your thoughts could change everything?

When you learn how to control your mind, you can change how circumstances shape your present and future.

You know the secret to bringing good out of anything.

Controlling your mind is the master key.

And it’s within your reach.

Can You Really Control Your Thoughts?

One of the most significant clues to how you think is what you say aloud when you’re not trying to impress anyone. Another is how you react when things go sideways.

And it works both ways. What you say out loud—or write down—affects your thinking. And while you can’t control what’s happening outside your head, and you can’t stop every random, unwanted thought from coming, you can choose how you respond.

So the answer to “Can you control your thoughts?” is mixed. Yes, you can control your conscious thoughts—your rational mind. And you control the expression of that mind: what you say out loud and what you do, as well as what you write down.

The tricky part is finding a way to steer your automatic, reactive thinking in a better direction. But if you’re willing to put in the effort, it can be done.

How to Control Your Thoughts: 9 Ways to Manage Your Mind

Read through all nine strategies for controlling your thoughts and make a note of the ones that stand out for you.

1. Listen to Your Thoughts

It also helps to write them down. When you’re feeling angry, sad, or overwhelmed, take a moment to listen to the thoughts bouncing around in your head.

Which thoughts are the loudest? Which thoughts hurt the most? Which ones feel impossible to shake off? Draw out those thoughts, and write them down.

You won’t get any judgment here. We know how dark intrusive thoughts can be. But you’re stronger than you think. And you have everything you need to fight back and win.

First, you need to know what you’re dealing with.

2. Rewire Your Brain

A daily practice of mindful meditation can change your brain structure, massively impacting how you think and feel.

Right now, you might be thinking, “Oh, sure, if I could actually quiet my brain enough to meditate, I’d do it all the time.” It turns out, though, your mind doesn’t have to be blank for you to reap the benefits of meditation.

Random thoughts will come. Your job is to simply accept them and let them float on by. If you catch yourself dwelling on one of those thoughts, forgive yourself, and let it go.

You don’t have to be perfect at this. You just have to keep trying—at least for a few minutes a day. You can do that.

3. Identify Thought Distortions

The chances are good that the thoughts that make you feel the worst are based on cognitive distortions. Ask yourself if any of the following sound familiar:

All-or-Nothing or Black-and-White Thinking / Polarized Thinking—It’s either this extreme or the other; there is no gray area.

Overgeneralizing—You take one instance or example and turn it into a negative blanket statement about something,

Catastrophizing—Your mind immediately goes to the worst-case scenario, and it feels inevitable.

Mental Filter—You focus on the negative details or examples and exclude all positive ones. You see only what confirms your limiting beliefs.

Disqualifying the Positive—Instead of ignoring the positive details or examples, you negatively interpret them.

Jumping to Conclusions: Fortune Telling—You make negative predictions about your future as if you could know precisely how the future will play out.

Jumping to Conclusions: Mind-Reading—You make assumptions about other people’s intentions toward you as if you could read their minds.

“Should” Statements—You use the expression “should have” to shame yourself (or someone else) for not knowing or doing more than you did.

Emotional Reasoning—You tell yourself, “If I feel it, it must be true.” So, if you’re jealous, it must be because you have good reason to be.

4. Identify Limiting Beliefs

At the root of your self-sabotaging thoughts are deeply-held beliefs like “I’m not meant to be rich” or “I’m going to die alone.”

These beliefs stay with you not because they’re true but because you’ve (probably) never questioned them. Maybe you felt you weren’t allowed to. Or perhaps it was just easier to assume they were true.

What beliefs do you have that make you feel deflated, ashamed, or beaten when you put them into words?

When something happens, you can often identify these beliefs, whether you see the situation as bad, good, or indifferent. Your thought reactions can tell you plenty about what you believe.

Listen to those thoughts and then dig deeper to get to the beliefs behind them.

5. Be Proactive Instead of Reactive

When you’re on auto-pilot, you’re relying on old habits, which you can only break by acting consciously. If you can identify those thinking habits (often cognitive distortions), you can practice responding differently.

Start by taking a closer look at a situation that usually gets an adverse reaction from you. What exactly is going on? Resist the temptation to embellish your account with assumptions about the other person.

The way you see it and the way they see it are unlikely to match up. Once you reframe the situation in a positive or neutral light, it’s easier to see how you might respond in a way that benefits you both.

6. Cultivate a Growth Mindset

Someone with a fixed mindset can look at one failing grade and think, “Well, that’s it, then. I’m an idiot. And I will never be smarter than I am, now. No one must ever know my shame!”

Sound familiar? It’s pretty close to overgeneralizing, but it’s more than that. It’s based on a deeply-held belief that you can’t get any better or smarter than you are now.

Someone with a growth mindset, on the other hand, will think, “Well, that didn’t go well. But it’s just one test. I have an active, curious, and adaptable mind. I’ll learn from this and find a way to do better on the next test.”

The difference in thinking is huge. And the difference in your life will reflect that.

7. Stop Listening to Negative People.

You know them by their general tendency to complain about anything and everything—and, to varying degrees, everyone. They have something negative to say about most of the topics that come up in conversation.

They see the world and most of the people in it through dark, dingy lenses. They might even pride themselves on it. Spend less time listening to these people and more time consciously choosing your own thoughts.

When you’re not constantly exposed to other people’s complaining, it’s easier to see something good in everything that happens. It’s easier to see evidence that your life is full of miracles just waiting to be noticed.

8. Tell Yourself a Different Story.

How you see the world depends on the stories you tell yourself:

A depressing story has a depressing effect on its audience. But if you’re the one telling the story about your experiences and what you see in them, you can choose to tell a story that lifts you up.

I’m not saying you should lie; just focus on what’s good. Find a way to reframe your experiences in a positive or neutral way.

And stop punishing yourself for your mistakes. Learn from them, and let them go.

9. Get the Help and Support You Need.

You don’t have to figure your life out all alone. Learn to ask for help when you feel stuck in a place you don’t want to be. It’s not weakness to acknowledge your need for help in seeing things from a less painful perspective.

It takes strength and humility to honor your needs. Everyone has them. If you encourage self-care in others, do the same for yourself. Part of self-care can be regular appointments with a therapist or mentor who can help you see things differently.

And while you’re taking their advice, forgive yourself for those times when you slip up. You’re human.

Just keep trying.

Now that you know how to control your thoughts, which of the tips described stood out for you? And what will you do differently today?

Don’t you want to shake them and say, “Hey, life is pretty good.

Why do you keep dwelling on the bad stuff?”

Perhaps they are seriously depressed, and that’s another matter altogether.

But some people have a habit of looking on the dark side, well, just because.
