A U.K. source is sharing a slick fitness tip from one of Meghan Markle&#8217;s trainers, who&#8217;s come forward with major weight loss wisdom: If you&#8217;re trying to look slimmer, there&#8217;s one best-kept secret among some pros that&#8217;s reportedly shown to deliver major physiological results.</p>
<p>This week, <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.hellomagazine.com/healthandbeauty/health-and-fitness/20211013123894/meghan-markle-duchess-of-sussex-weight-loss-pictures-posture/"><em>Hello!</em></a> has reported that back in 2018, Meghan Markle&#8217;s former trainer, Craig McNamee, revealed that when Meghan was acting on TV, he and the royal took &#8220;a full-body approach&#8221; to her workouts. McNamee added that &#8220;since Meghan was on screen, we really focused on posture,&#8221; which included lots of core work, as well as exercises focused on the body&#8217;s posterior side—like the back, glutes, and hamstrings.</p>

<p>Eleanor Burt, a sports massage therapist with certification in postural alignment, told <em>Hello!</em> that focusing on posture can indeed be a weight loss game-changer. &#8220;[…G]ood posture helps with weight loss is because it aids the efficiency of practically all of the systems within the body,&#8221; Burt explained. &#8220;The body works as a unit, so your musculoskeletal system&#8217;s function (or lack thereof) will impact how well you can think, breathe, shift lymph, digest food and expel waste.&#8221;</p>
<p>She went on to explain that &#8220;If you are stuck in a heavily flexed posture (a.k.a. a slumped, sitting position) without the muscular function to pull yourself out of it when you stand up, you will find that excess pressure on the internal organs will impact digestion, breathing patterns, and your general vitality.&#8221;</p>

<p><strong>Chris Hemsworth</strong> has been a fixture in Hollywood blockbusters like <em>Thor</em> and <em>The Avengers</em> for over a decade, but it&#8217;s not just his acting chops that have earned the star such a dedicated fanbase. The actor&#8217;s inimitable fitness has not only made him an international hunk, but the envy of many a gym-goer, as well—and the reason the phrase &#8220;Chris Hemsworth workout&#8221; returns over 30 million Google results.</p>
<p>However, it&#8217;s not Hemsworth&#8217;s natural inclination to hit the gym that gave him the Thor body audiences know and love. <strong>Luke Zocchi</strong>, Hemsworth&#8217;s friend and longtime personal trainer, sat down with <em>Eat This, Not That!</em> to discuss the star&#8217;s workout and diet plan and why, when many other people have been struggling to shed quarantine weight, Hemsworth is in the &#8220;best shape he&#8217;s ever been in.&#8221;</p>

<p>To achieve the huge muscles his MCU character Thor is known for, Zocchi has Hemsworth in the gym five days a week lifting heavy weights.</p>
<p>&#8220;For this last <em>Thor</em>, we stuck to a regime of push/pull. It would be split into five days: push for a chest day, pull for back, legs, shoulders, and arms,&#8221; Zocchi explains. However, while Hemsworth&#8217;s workouts were essential, Zocchi says that there was another equally important component of the star&#8217;s routine: &#8220;The biggest thing is supporting that training with nutrition,&#8221; he says.</p>

<p>Zocchi says there&#8217;s no cutting corners when it comes to achieving the exceptionally large, yet toned look that Thor is known for.</p>
<p>&#8220;For all those Marvel roles, we start like three months prior. We almost do like a bootcamp,&#8221; Zocchi explains, noting that most of the long hours in the gym are logged prior to filming. &#8220;When we&#8217;re on the role, it&#8217;s about maintaining because he&#8217;s filming all day,&#8221; Zocchi adds.</p>

<p>Though there&#8217;s no denying that Hemsworth always looks fit on-screen, Zocchi admits that maintaining the star&#8217;s newly achieved musculature while he&#8217;s filming is no small feat.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve noticed in certain films where Chris will start the film at his biggest, but he just can&#8217;t maintain that size the whole way through the shoot. They&#8217;re filming 12, 14 hours a day, and the last thing they want to do is do a heavy workout after they&#8217;ve been on-camera acting all day,&#8221; Zocchi says. &#8220;Maintaining it during the shoot is harder than actually getting there.&#8221;</p>

<p>While Hemsworth has clearly been no slouch in the physical fitness department in the past, Zocchi says that COVID-related lockdowns have allowed the star to focus on his training in a way he hadn&#8217;t been able to in years past.</p>
<p>&#8220;For this last <em>Thor</em>, Chris is in crazy shape,&#8221; Zocchi says. &#8220;Because of COVID, and &#8217;cause we went into lockdown, and because he&#8217;s got this new house with a whole gym, we almost went on a year training camp for this role. We went crazy. That&#8217;s why you&#8217;ll see he&#8217;s in the best shape he&#8217;s ever been in. I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever trained so hard…Our bodies, at the end of it, were almost broken because we went that crazy.&#8221;</p>

<p>The Rock isn&#8217;t the only star putting away huge amounts of food to maintain his muscles.</p>
<p>Zocchi explains that Hemsworth is &#8220;naturally a taller, skinnier guy,&#8221; so it&#8217;s necessary for him to significantly increase his caloric intake when he trains for his MCU roles.</p>
<p>&#8220;He was eating so much food,&#8221; Zocchi says, noting that the star eats every two hours when he&#8217;s bulking up. &#8220;He was eating like 4,500 calories a day. It was crazy.&#8221;</p>

<p>To help fuel Hemsworth&#8217;s training, Zocchi says the star typically relies on red meat—and lots of it.</p>
<p>&#8220;Sometimes, I&#8217;m surprised how much red meat he eats &#8217;cause it&#8217;s like he just doesn&#8217;t get sick of steak—he can just eat it any time of the day, at breakfast or whatever,&#8221; says Zocchi. &#8220;He loves it. It&#8217;s weird. In his genetic makeup, that&#8217;s what he likes to do.&#8221;</p>

<p>While Hemsworth may seem to be in pretty much perfect shape, Zocchi says that there&#8217;s still a bit of wiggle room for fun food, too.</p>
<p>&#8220;When we&#8217;re doing all that stuff for <em>Thor</em>, we roughly work on the 80/20 [principle]—80% of the time we&#8217;re good and 20% of the time, we have a little bit of naughty food…To keep your sanity, you need to have some little meal where you have a little bit of chocolate, a little bit of ice cream,&#8221; he says.</p>

<p>Though many people may want to develop muscles like Hemsworth&#8217;s, Zocchi admits that what you see on screen simply isn&#8217;t achievable for everyone.</p>
<p>&#8220;Realize that everybody is different. Even me, for example. I do the exact same workouts as Chris and people are like, &#8216;How come you don&#8217;t have the same arms as him?&#8217; I&#8217;m like, &#8216;I just don&#8217;t!&#8217; I do everything he does, we&#8217;re just different,&#8221; Zocchi says.</p>
<p>&#8220;When you see him in those roles where he&#8217;s got his top off and he looks amazing, that&#8217;s like when we&#8217;ve done a week of eating everything precisely, he might even be a bit dehydrated, [and] the lighting&#8217;s perfect. That&#8217;s him at his peak,&#8221; he explains.</p>
<p>The key to getting in the best shape for your body type, according to Zocchi? &#8220;Consistency,&#8221; he says. &#8220;This is something you&#8217;ve got to do for life. Find something you enjoy doing and keep doing it.&#8221;</p>

The trio has teamed up to create <a href="https://centr.com/join-us">Centr</a>, a lifestyle app that provides users the workouts, nutritional guidance, and mindfulness practice they need to get into their best shape ever.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you look at Chris, you might think, &#8216;This is an app that&#8217;s just about how to get huge and lift heaps of weights,&#8217; but [it&#8217;s] all this stuff me and Chris learned along the way. Like on <em>Avengers: End Game</em>, we were in London, and we were sore, and Chris had hurt his back, so we started doing yoga together. There&#8217;s yoga in this app, there&#8217;s Pilates. There are all different styles of training… It&#8217;s a real healthy balance and a good approach to health and fitness,&#8221; Zocchi says.</p>

<p>&#8220;Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.&#8221;</p>
<p>That&#8217;s the last line of a favorite quote of mine. When I was younger, I framed it and hung it on my bedroom wall to remind me that attitude matters. You&#8217;ll never gain control of life—your health, <a href="http://eatthis.com/tag/diet">your diet</a>, your whatever—if you dwell on &#8220;what happens to you.&#8221; And that&#8217;s why I believe <strong>one of the best mind tricks that can help you lose weight is to have a positive attitude</strong>.</p>
<p>Let me explain why and how a positive attitude can make a drastic difference in your weight loss journey.</p>
<p>In my new audiobook, <em><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Lose-Weight-like-Crazy-Even/dp/B09222DBC6/ref=tmm_aud_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=&amp;sr=" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lose Weight Like Crazy Even If You Have a Crazy Life</a></em>, I share a lot of stories of my own struggles with doubt and negative thinking, and also how I changed my pessimistic attitude.</p>
<p>When I was growing up, anytime something went wrong, my dad would say &#8220;I&#8217;m cursed. It&#8217;s the Calabrese curse.&#8221; So for a long time, I believed it, too, that we Calabreses were destined for bad luck. Lesson: Be careful of the people around you. If you&#8217;re constantly around people with a negative attitude, chances are you&#8217;re going to develop one, too.</p>
<p>Once I was in college on my own, surrounded by like-minded people having fun and embracing life&#8217;s ups and downs, I started to realize that the manner in which I reacted to situations mattered. I could choose to see the bad or I could choose to see the good. I could get pissed off or down on myself, or I could learn from my challenges and look at life through a more positive lens. Before I knew it, I didn&#8217;t feel like life was happening to me. Instead, I felt in control. And I realized that attitude is the secret to making good things happen.</p>
<p>See, whether you think you can or you think you can&#8217;t, you&#8217;re right! <strong>If you approach weight loss, for example, with a positive attitude, asking yourself, what can I learn? How can it work for me? chances are you will experience a better understanding of yourself and your nutrition, and you&#8217;ll get great results.</strong></p>

<p>Here are some practical ways to flip your attitude switch:</p>

<li><strong>Start your day with an attitude check.</strong> Check it before going into a challenging situation. If you go out to dinner with friends and you forget to save a yellow serving (part of my portion control plan in the book) for your glass of wine, well, you have 2 ways to look at it: <em>This plan sucks; I&#8217;m not doing this, OR you can think ah, this is what Autumn means about planning ahead and being prepared. I&#8217;ll have water tonight and a cocktail next time we go out.</em> It will still be fun to be with friends. Choosing the right attitude will keep you on the path to success. <li><strong>Act like a child.</strong> Success doesn&#8217;t always happen on the first try, and that&#8217;s OK. Take a baby who is just learning how to walk, for example. If the baby falls taking those first wobbly steps, she doesn&#8217;t think, &#8220;Well, I&#8217;m done; this walking stuff isn&#8217;t for me.&#8221; She gets up and tries again and again. We can all learn a lesson from the child inside us who didn&#8217;t know the meaning of defeat, wasn&#8217;t weighed down by society&#8217;s opinions and all the self-doubt. Keep getting back up.</li>
<li><strong>Don&#8217;t reach for perfection.</strong> Perfection is an unrealistic goal. It&#8217;s super hard to achieve and more often than not will leave you feeling unworthy if you don&#8217;t nail it. So, don&#8217;t even go there. I say, &#8220;shoot for progress, not perfection.&#8221; Some people quit due to slow progress, never grasping the fact that slow progress IS PROGRESS! <li><strong>Practice consistency.</strong> The secret to success in almost anything is consistency. Practice it. In anything you do, practice it every day. Nobody gets to the Olympic Games, the NFL, or the NBA without practicing consistently to improve. The same goes for improving your health and fitness or building a bulletproof positive attitude. <li><strong>Have a reason.</strong> In my book, I call step number one for big weight loss &#8220;identifying your &#8216;why.'&#8221; What&#8217;s your reason for wanting to lose weight and get fit? It has to be meaningful to you in order to push you forward on those hard days when you feel like packing it in. You&#8217;ll need to lean into your deeper &#8220;why&#8221; to stay on track. To find it, ask yourself:

<li>What will happen when I lose the weight?</li>
<li>How will I feel when I lose the weight I want to lose?</li>
<li>What would happen if I didn&#8217;t lose this weight?</li>
<li>How will I feel if I don&#8217;t lose this weight?</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Go deep.</strong> Then ask yourself, &#8220;What&#8217;s holding me back from getting what I want?&#8221;</li>
<li><strong>Have a plan.</strong> The most practical tool for changing attitudes and behaviors is having a well-defined plan. If you have a clear map to follow it&#8217;s almost impossible to get lost. This is the essential idea behind my Portion Fix Plan. One celebrity trainer has talked exclusively with <em>Eat This, Not That!</em> to reveal the one must-do she challenges her clients to try when they come to her to slim down for the season.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/latoyafit/?hl=en">Latoya Julce</a> is a certified personal trainer and instructor at New York City&#8217;s 305 Fitness. Julce has trained some big names and taught stars like Hannah Bronfman, Amanda Seyfried, and Mary Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen in her classes. Julce also happens to be a registered nurse, which gives her an even more specialized perspective on health and nutrition, while she adds that both arms of her career help her relate well to the busiest among us—as an operating room nurse and a trainer, Julce rarely sits down.</p>

<p>What&#8217;s the best exercise move to do when you want to torch fat and tone? &#8220;A weighted squat is always a great move,&#8221; Julce says. &#8220;It will burn the most calories for you, and a lot of things—abs, legs, glutes—have to work to do a squat properly. Besides, sitting down and standing up is something you do every day, so why not do an exercise that&#8217;s really functional in your life, as well?&#8221;</p>

<p>In the age of the intermittent fasting craze, Julce says that the truly healthy way to eat with discipline is to actually eat more often. &#8220;Snacks are super important for me,&#8221; Julce says. &#8220;I tell all my clients: If you don&#8217;t have your meals, that&#8217;s fine, but your snacks will be key. Never wait until you&#8217;re starving—that&#8217;s when you go crazy and make bad choices. You always want to have a snack, and make sure your sugars are at a decent level.&#8221;</p>

<p>&#8220;My job is not a desk job, and sometimes I don&#8217;t really know when I&#8217;m going to eat my lunch,&#8221; Julce says. Her go-to? Half an apple with peanut butter or almond butter. &#8220;I grab a spoon, and it&#8217;s easy to manage,&#8221; she says. Plus with the hit of protein, fat, and fiber, this snack will stabilize your levels and help you feel fuller to keep you from crashing before your next break.</p>

<p>Julce says a protein bar is also an easy grab on the go to help you avoid feeling hungry—but you need to go for a good one. Her favorite is a KIND bar, which &#8220;is on the low end of the sugar scale,&#8221; she says, while she&#8217;ll occasionally get ONE protein bars, which have just one gram of sugar. Then you&#8217;ll notice as soon as you feel full.&#8221;</p>

But there&#8217;s one thing that taking walks every day won&#8217;t do—especially if you&#8217;re looking to get the physique of your dreams: Moderate-intensity exercises such as walking will not meaningfully change your body&#8217;s shape.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you do cardio and you have a pear-shaped body, all that you can expect is to become a smaller pear,&#8221; <a href="https://www.instagram.com/erenlegendifbbpro/?igshid=1d5kjwc2j9gpc">Eren Legend</a>, a celebrity trainer and accomplished bodybuilder, <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/get-fit-from-just-walking">recently explained</a> to <em>GQ</em>. &#8220;<strong>The only way to change your body composition, the shape and look of your body, is to perform a form of resistance-based training</strong>.&#8221;</p>
<p>He explains that walking does a lot of great things for you—and it will indeed help you lose weight—but it only goes so far in helping you achieve larger transformational goals. &#8220;If you&#8217;re regularly performing some type of physical activity your body is going to change,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But is it the most efficient way? Some form of resistance training like weightlifting or sprints, in addition to a nutrition plan, will get you to your goals faster.&#8221;</p>
<p>He&#8217;s correct, of course. But as the <em>GQ</em> article notes, not everyone is looking to transform themselves into Thor or Wonder Woman. For the average person, losing a few pounds is well worth the effort alone. But if you&#8217;re looking to meaningfully alter your physique and you&#8217;d like to try your hand at some resistance training, consider this simple bodyweight routine below to get you started. You can do it anywhere, and to complete it, simply go through the following circuit as many times as you can in 10 minutes.
