<p>What if you could take a pill that would slash your cravings for brownies, cookies, and ice cream? Yup, such a pill exists — and people are taking notice.</p>
<p>Read on to find out more about sugar craving pills, how they are said to work, and whether or not they’re safe and effective.</p>
<p> </p>
<h2>Why Do We Crave Sugar?</h2>
<p>There are clear, biological reasons why we all crave sugar from time to time. “Our body relies on glucose as a source of energy to fuel our organs and nervous system. As such, we often crave sugar which is a reliable source of glucose for the body,” says <a href="https://www.massgeneral.org/doctors/doctor.aspx?id=19693" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Fatima Cody Stanford</a>, obesity medicine physician scientist and assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.</p>
<p>Dr. Stanford explains that the brain, particularly the hypothalamus, influences why some of us crave sugar more than others.</p>
<p>Certain circumstances influence whether or not people crave something sweet, too. “They may be tired and stressed, or they may be consuming a diet lacking in calories or essential micronutrients,” says <a href="https://summeryule.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Summer Yule</a>, M.S., R.D.N.</p>
<p>Other triggers for sugar cravings include low blood sugar, pregnancy, thirst, and certain prescription medications, Yule says.</p>
<p> </p>
<h2>How Do Sugar Craving Pills Work?</h2>
<p><a href="https://healyourhealthyourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/What-Are-Sugar-Craving-Pills-and-Do-They-Work.jpeg"></a></p>
<p>First, let’s talk about what these pills are made of. Several drugs and supplements, including <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27028298" target="_blank" rel="noopener">neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor modulators</a> (a long-winded name for a type of drug also known to reduce nicotine cravings) have been linked to reduced sugar cravings. But we’ll focus on pills made from the much hyped — and slightly more researched — <em>Gymnema sylvestre</em>.</p>
<p>The woody, climbing plant native to India, Africa, and Australia has been deemed a “<a href="https://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/2014/830285/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sugar destroyer</a>” and found to not only control cravings for the sweet stuff, but actually alter the way sugar-laden foods taste.</p>
<p>In fact, gymnemic acids found in the plants’ leaves eradicate sweet flavors so much that sugar is said to taste like sand, while <a href="http://www.cookingissues.com/2009/11/12/how-to-make-everything-taste-bad-in-a-very-instructive-way-and-how-to-eat-20-limes/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fruit tastes like an “acid bomb</a>.”</p>
<p>“Many of these pills work so that they bond to specific receptors on the taste buds to block sugar activation,” Dr. Stanford says. “This decreases one’s desires for sweet food.”</p>
<p> </p>
<h2>Can You Beat Sugar Cravings With a Pill?</h2>
<p>Technically, yes. <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6108391/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Research indicates</a> that pills made of <em>Gymnema sylvestre</em> can reduce the sweetness and flavor of foods. Pills meant to curb sugar cravings can be a helpful tool for people with diabetes as well as for people who want to lose weight.</p>
<p>“There is <a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/0031938483900306?via%3Dihub" target="_blank" rel="noopener">some evidence</a> that changing the perception of sweet foods may lead individuals to eat less, at least short-term,” Yule says. “This decrease in calorie intake could lead to weight loss — at least in theory — if it is sustained over time.”</p>
<p>But there are caveats.</p>
<p>First: “The effect may only last 30 to 60 minutes,” Yule says. So a holiday meal with a full dessert spread may prove challenging if you don’t time things right.</p>
<p>Secondly, research suggests pills made to reduce sugar cravings may have an opposite effect — in one study, <a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0195666317302350" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">participants craved more sugar</a> when they lost their sensitivity to sweetness.</p>
<p>And thirdly, taking pills may not be the safest, most sustainable approach to reduce your sugar cravings.</p>
<p> </p>
<h2>Are Sugar Craving Pills Safe?</h2>
<p><a href="https://healyourhealthyourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/1660078834_862_What-Are-Sugar-Craving-Pills-and-Do-They-Work.jpeg"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-147325" src="https://healyourhealthyourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/1660078834_862_What-Are-Sugar-Craving-Pills-and-Do-They-Work.jpeg" alt="sugar cubes on spoon | sugar craving pills" width="700" height="467"/></a></p>
<p>We’re not so sure yet. “There is not a lot of long term data on these pills, which is why I recommend caution,” Dr. Stanford says.</p>
<p>We do know that sugar craving pills made from <em>Gymnema sylvestre</em> should <a href="https://medlineplus.gov/druginfo/natural/841.html#Safety" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">should not be taken with certain medications</a> without the approval of a physician.</p>
<p>“Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should also avoid [these pills] due to limited information on safety,” Yule says.</p>
<p> </p>
<h2>How to Manage Sugar Cravings Without Pills</h2>
<p>Sugar can in fact be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle. “The term sugar includes the natural sugars in fruits and dairy products,” Yule says, “and these absolutely can be a part of a healthy diet.”</p>
<p>We should, however, limit the amount of added sugars we eat. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that <a href="https://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2015/sugar-guideline/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">no more than 10 percent</a> of our daily calories come from added sugars. Rather than focus on altering the flavor of foods to reduce sugar cravings, Yule suggests sticking to foods with natural sugars when you have a hankering for something sweet.</p>
<p>It’s also a good idea to look at your diet as a whole. “One of the best ways to manage cravings of all types is to make sure you are consuming regular and balanced meals,” Yule says.</p>
<p>That means incorporating whole foods that contain three key components to keep you satisfied throughout the day. “Meals that are packed with protein, fiber, and water will help you stay full between meals so you may be less likely to reach for sugary snacks,” Yule says. Keep a water bottle on hand to stay well hydrated so you can prevent your body from misinterpreting thirst cues for hunger.</p>
<p>Whether your goal is to get healthier or lose weight, the most sustainable combo you can rely on is a healthy, balanced diet and regularly exercising — not a magic pill.</p>

<h3>1. Slow Down</h3>

Most experts agree that you should not exceed 18 ounces of red meat per week. In general, eating a high protein diet can assist in burning more calories because it requires more calories to break down protein than other nutrients. An 8oz steak without sauce has 614 calories, 632mg of potassium and 56 grams of protein.&#8221;</span></p>

<h2><b>1. Be independent </b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hundreds of millions of people make this mistake. We depend on people like us. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">“he will get it done for me, she will get it done for me”.</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> You rely heavily on people and guess what, you are making a big mistake. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are a lot of people that have helped others and perhaps time changes for them, they become poor and rely on the people they have helped, guess what comes out at the end of this reliance? Disappointment, promises backed by failures, etc. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Who are you depending on? Who is that person you can’t do without when getting things in your life done? If there is anyone, you are making a big mistake. And starting today, all you have to do is add a prefix – </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">what if!</span></i></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">What if my friend stops helping me, what if I get disappointed by people I trust with my life, what if they neglect me and turn me down”.</span></i></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A man or woman that depends on people like him is equal to a feeble pillar holding the four corners of a house. What happens when the feeble pillar falls? The man’s house falls down super-flat. Your trust should only be in Jesus. Man can fail us at any time but God is always faithful till his Kingdom comes. </span></p>
<h2><b>2. Love your neighbor as yourself </b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The gravity of this word is enough to shatter the whole earth into pieces. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Only if the whole world just kept this simple commandment Christ Jesus gave then, there will be no murders, poverty, greediness, anger, envy, betrayal, disappointment, etc. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why are there such things in the world? Because we hate ourselves. As long as you are fine all is well. You care about yourself only, selfish, you have and yet you cannot give. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Those are the characteristics of over 90% of the 7.6 billion humans on earth. Why can’t you do to others what you would have them do to you? Why can’t you help that suffering neighbor who needs food? Then, a lot of people will say </span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Go away from here beggar, what did you do with your youth, I can’t give you a dime, beggar”. Why are we so cruel? This is the best tip you must dear to your heart. </span></i></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">No matter what you have, no matter how little or in whatever way you can help. Help people, show them love, love them as you love yourself. Don’t forget this, today’s beggar, uneducated, debtor, poor person, etc can later become the greatest person in the world tomorrow. </span></p>

<h2><strong>3. Have a growth mindset</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">growth mindset</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is what makes one successful and go far in life. However, a fixed and stagnated mindset throws one into jeopardy of life.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A lot of people have a </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">fixed mindset</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, what they believe is what they believe, nothing you say on earth can change their mindset, they are the most educated in the world so they don’t need to learn any further. Did you have a fixed or growth mindset?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A growth mindset leads to success, achievements, happiness, learning more, and becoming better. On the other hand, a fixed mindset leads to </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">complacency</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, pride, lack of achievement, ignorance, the stagnancy of the mind, etc. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Let’s see an example of someone with a fixed mindset:</span></p>
<p><b>Cait tells Alice:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Alice stop being so proud it’s annoying. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And Alice responds:</span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">“How dare you say I am proud, I am not. I am the most humble woman on earth”. </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the example, Alice with a fixed mindset has a fixed mindset. However, what she does not know is that she is in the darkness of her ignorance. She is ignorant of the fact that she is a proud person thus, she can’t see it. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">People with a fixed mindset are ignorant. You must never have a fixed mindset. Always be willing to learn and to grow with humility. Pride can take you nowhere. </span></p>
<h2><strong>4. Forgive everyone and give as many second chances as you can  </strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A lot of people have done all they could to be happy and have peace. But, they find out that happiness is not just there and that peace of mind is absent. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why is that? It is because you have a lot of grudge against people that have offended you. Yes, we know, it pained you to your heart, and what next? Keep malice? But, do you know what that unforgiveness does to you?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I call it </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">the seed of unforgiveness</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> because it plants a seed in your heart and this seed further grows to become hatred, depression, lack of freedom, zero peace, etc. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If in only one person’s heart are all these things, then a person like that can never know peace and happiness. For example, if you were to go to a party with your friends and you hear that perhaps the other friend that you keep malice with is coming to the same party. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Naturally, the only thing you would think of is not going to the party anymore because you want to avoid the person at all costs. And what does that add to you? It doesn’t add instead, it subtracts from your life because you could have gone to the party, had fun, and even have new friends or even new opportunities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If not for anything will you </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">forgive people</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, forgive them for the sake of God, for the sake of Christ Jesus. Because if you cannot forget the trespass of people, don’t expect God to forgive you. Forgive everyone, give them as many second chances as possible. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mind you, they can still mess up and make terrible mistakes all you have to do is keep forgiving them. This may not be so easy to the flesh. However, it is only The Spirit of God that can make you forgive the trespass of people. Without The Holy Spirit, it is impossible to do so. </span></p>
<h2><b>5. Love God</b></h2>

<p>When focusing on weight loss, there are so many diets and habits to help you reach your goals. However, with all the types of diets and foods, how do you know what&#8217;s the right option for you? You&#8217;re then trying all these different methods because you hear about celebrity weight loss, or a new trend or popular diet. It seems like finding a way to lose weight is overwhelming.</p>
<p>Well now there&#8217;s one diet you can eliminate from your options. According to a study done by the <em><a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2114833">New England Journal of Medicine</a></em>, the <strong>intermittent fasting diet does not actually work</strong>. In fact, it is <strong>no more effective than simply just counting your calories</strong>.</p>
<p>In the study, researchers randomly assigned 139 patients with obesity to a time-restricted eating schedule, also known as intermittent fasting, as well as calorie restrictions. The group with a restricted eating schedule was allowed to only eat between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The other group just had a daily calorie restriction without having to eat during a given time frame. For 12 months, both groups had to follow a calorie-restricted diet that consisted of 1,500 to 1,800 calories per day for men and 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day for women.</p>

<p>118 of the 139 participants completed the 12-month follow-up visit. The average weight loss in the time-restriction group was 8.0 kg, and 6.3 kg for the daily-calorie-restriction group. Results of analyses also took waist circumferences, BMI, body fat, body lean mass, blood pressure, and metabolic risk factors into consideration.</p>
<p>This showed that among patients with obesity, <strong>a regimen of time-restricted eating was not more beneficial with regard to loss of body weight, body fat, or metabolic risk factors than daily calorie restriction.</strong></p>
<p>In addition, there were no substantial differences between the groups in the number of unexpected medical problems that happened during the study.</p>

There are different vital factors such as genetics, eating habits, age, sex, stress, physical activity, and lifestyle habits that lead to obesity. For example, changing lifestyle patterns, food behaviour, following a healthy dietary regimen, and engaging in physical activities. But making diet and lifestyle changes is a long term commitment. Many of us fall off the bandwagon because we are impatient or put ourselves through impossible regimens. Also, we want to see results quickly. So we tend to turn to weight loss dietary supplements hoping to achieve our weight goal easily.</p>
<h2 id="h-overview"><strong>Overview:</strong></h2>
<p>Weight loss supplements are supplements promoted for weight loss without any possible significant changes in lifestyle. These dietary supplements come in various forms, such as capsules, tablets, liquids, powders, or bars. They come in four primary categories. These are: </p>

<li>Suppressing appetite</li>
<li>Increasing satiety level</li>
<li>Increasing metabolism </li>

<p>&#8220;This means you must be burning more calories than you are taking in. For example, if you eat 2,000 calories a day, and burn a total of 2,000 calories in a day, then nothing will happen to your weight. If you start to eat 1,500 to 1,800 calories a day and burn 2,000, then you are at a caloric deficit. Your body will start to burn body fat to make up for that deficit. This will cause you to lose abdominal fat over time.&#8221;</p>

The most popular method is the 16/8 method. This means you fast for 16 hours and you have a window of 8 hours to eat your 2 to 3 meals. This can help you reduce the overall calories you eat in a day. Over time, this will reduce abdominal fat.&#8221;</p>

<p>Although losing weight can be a challenge, many people find that the toughest aspect of weight loss is preventing those pounds from creeping back. <p>So, what are those who are successful in keeping the weight off doing right? A <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/oby.23372">new study in the journal <em>Obesity</em></a> reveals their top strategies.</p>
<p>Researchers surveyed more than 6,000 participants in a weight-loss program WW who had lost more than 50 pounds and kept it off for over three years. Answering questions about their motivations and tactics, these were the most cited tips. <p>Perseverance was the biggest theme in the survey responses, and also a key method for dealing with inevitable setbacks, according to lead researcher Suzanne Phelan, PhD, in the department of kinesiology and public health at California Polytechnic State University. By having a long-term view, it was much easier to restart quickly instead of giving up the effort to maintain control over consumption levels, she says.</p>

<p>For nearly everyone who was successful in maintaining their weight loss, tracking food had become a daily habit, even after hitting their &#8220;goal weight.&#8221; One maintainer advised, &#8220;You have to get up every day and make a choice to track and eat right. <p>Another notable strategy is not to think about weight at all as a primary motivator. Weight loss maintainers noted that the most important changes were &#8220;non-scale victories&#8221; like reduced pain, better control of chronic medical conditions, feeling a greater sense of confidence as well as more ease in their bodies, and having more consistent energy and lighter moods.</p>

<p>As one maintainer noted, &#8220;Think of changing your eating habits as part of creating a healthy lifestyle.&#8221; That means weight loss comes as a result, or even a side effect, of that shift instead of being the main focus in itself. That also helps you pivot toward other healthy changes that have been shown to improve weight loss maintenance, like daily activity, quality sleep, and reduced stress.</p>
